It's back on track schase :)

We had a problem with some 3650's that weren't available and therefore stopped the entire shipment from leaving. I'm happy to say that the cards are on the way as we speak and we expect the stock to land on Monday/Tuesday (at the latest).

P5Q's will be here (in SA) on Monday BTW.
Yes, Monday sees the 4870's arriving. Shipping to customers will probably start late Monday or first thing on Tuesday depending on time constraints.

I guess i should elaborate a bit on that comment. Any card for R3499.00 that can run Crysis at an average of 35FPS @ 1680X1050 (GTX 280 - 40.7FPS at over R7K!!!) is good for me. This with very immature drivers can only mean great things for ATI's cards in the future. Add to this the awesome HD quali...

OCZ memory uses ONLY Micron chips (as does Crucial - the retail division of Micron) so either of these are guaranteed to be pretty good overclockers. Pity that the binnings of the newer Crucial's are a bit dodge compared to the older ones, but still great memory.

As far as performance goes the ATI 4850 is the better card of the two and does also support DX10.1 (for whatever it's worth). Another plus is the HD performance of the ATI cards. Seems like the 4850 is soon going to become the new 8800GT in it becoming the mainstream gaming card. I'll try getting a ...

Slightly different fan design but otherwise they have the same PCB, core and memory. So in essence they're exactly the same boards.

ATI have been plagued with poor driver support both in the actual script of the driver as well as the fact that they released maybe 4 updates a year (if we were lucky). But those days are over now and we can see the maturity of the development team starting to show as Crossfire scales so much better...

I can't say yet (NDA) but it's soon :) We'll probably only see a price drop when the 4870X2 is released although nVidia do at times drop prices within the first two weeks of a product launch. Problem is the retailers don't always abide to nVidia's rules and will keep a product at the higher price (a...

We've just dropped the price of the EVGA GTX 280 to R7899.00.
It's the best I can do for now.

Let's hope ATI can release a great card at a good price. That'll drive prices right down.

8800GTS 512MB cards are selling as low as R3K now (less than some 8800GT cards) so yeah I'd agree with Mike and go for one of those as there isn't much difference between the 8800GTS and 9800GTX (unless you're an avid overclocker and play your games on a 30" monitor). The new cards are being re...

EVGA is the number 1 seller of nVidia based motherboards and graphics cards in the States and outsells Asus in Europe.

They were voted the best graphics card manufacturer for 2007 by the users of X-bit Labs.

Ever thought of going the EVGA 790i route? Their boards are very well built and offer a full two year warranty. Actually KingPin used an EVGA 790i with an EVGA 9800GX2 to break the single card 3DMark 06 record a few months ago. Read more http://www.evga.com/articles/389.asp As for DDR3, well it is s...

Sorry R3D, I miss read your post totally it seems. Yeah Mike, the 280 is around 5-10% quicker than the 9800GX2 which is really poor show by nVidia IMO. I'm no ATI fan boi but I'm holding thumbs for the Red team this time around. Starbound - I'm under NDA not to release pricing yet but I'll say the f...

17K with a 8800GT and a Quad @ 3.4GHz is very very good!
Keep in mind that the 14K was hit with the graphics card at stock clocks and no tweaks on the software.
I think we'll see around 17-18.5K from these cards soon with more mature drivers in the hands of an experienced overclocker.

I'm confused. Do you have one or two 9800GX2's in your system?

Your sig says one but then why do you say "The problem I am having now is that 3D Mark 2006 only runs on the 1 card..."?

I feel the 4870 is going to be full of win. For me personally I'm really tempted to get the 4850 seeing as it's a single slot solution. Single slot yes but in the review it was running a bit hot (79C at idle!). Hopefully the HIS range of cards will run a lot cooler with the IceQ 3 cooling solution.
