i had this a while ago, just ended up backing up to a local drive and then creating a scheduled task to run a bat file that used xcopy to move the backup across and when done just delete the file from the local drive (if desired)

you can rip music to it or keep save games on there or download arcade games (like contra and galaga (for free)) or videos like borat clips and music videos, game trailers etc etc and the like from xbox live... you can also store pics and stuff on it... there is software that you can buy that allows...
