I believe you are wrong, otherwise why would Microsoft themselves have a small article up about it here & here??Fcon_Vpro wrote:afaik this is an april fools joke as its being published in some xbox magazine in april as a joke. Apparently some guy photoshopped it black a while ago.
Thats what Ive heard. Could be wrong.
I will believe it when its listed on a webshop, etc.
Most likely the Elite console features the new 65nm process chipsstyle121 wrote:And its going to run cooler than the current premium, so if you're holiding out for the premium, wait for the elite.
Ok I believe it then.
I heard about this edition last year when it was still codenamed Zephyr.
I was at the xbox website on Friday and nothing was there. So guess it finally has happened.
My bad.
But for that price Im still gonna go for ps3. 120gb hard drive can be bought for ps3 and bluray makes it worth it.
If the elite had wifi aswell for its price then it would have been worth it.

And to think I'm still saving up for the Premium. Might have to wait for the Elite now

And who do you support? For interests sake

Um... how about convenience ? Running 1 cable instead of 5 sounds much better to me. And then I dont even have to worry about quality of the cables cos its all digital and not analogue.Mouba wrote:I don't understand why you would need a HDMI output if you don't have a HD DVD or Blu Ray player built in ?
I have a hifi/home theatre component system with HDMI inputs and would make my life so much easier to just have one cable for both video and audio than 3 for video and 2 for audio.
Also 1080p isnt officially supported by component video or vga. Only HDMI or DVI are the official ones. Reason why is cos the quality of the cables has to be fantastic to get proper 1080p with the componet or vga cables.
Also some LCD screens have built in governers on those ports not to allow too a high a signal cos otherwise ppl think its a crap monitor whereas its really the cheap cables.
They should have had HDMI from the get go and not only on this model.
All 360 games are designed for at least 720p and there is loads of downloadable HD content for the 360 too so you don't HAVE to have HD-DVD or blueray to get HD content. you can even feed HD content from your PC if you have it.Mouba wrote:That does'nt do you much good if you can only watch DVD resolution.viceroy wrote:for connection to some newer HD TVs perhaps.
Unless the games have HD output from DVD based medium ?
fcon is correct, HDMI should have been included from the get go, but for people like me personally who don't have a hdmi tv, VGA and component also give us 720p
5 cables to get AV??? I have one for HD video and one for digital audiofcon wrote:I have a hifi/home theatre component system with HDMI inputs and would make my life so much easier to just have one cable for both video and audio than 3 for video and 2 for audio.
All HD really is, is a resolution that is high:Mouba wrote:That does'nt do you much good if you can only watch DVD resolution.viceroy wrote:for connection to some newer HD TVs perhaps.

1080p: 1920x1080
720p: I think 1280x720
480p: 640x480 (altho this is SD)
So basically it doesnt matter what medium you have, ie DVD, CD, etc... you can watch HD off any of those but the problem is that you cant store long lengths of videos because of the size and streaming off the medium could be too slow.
Bluray and HD Discs have high data storage and fast transfer speeds which makes them ideal for HD content.
If you have a pc that can run 1080p or 720p resolution, it is basically a HD computer. All you need is a HD video, etc and you can experience HD.
I used it as a worse case scenario. Component video is 3 cables and normal audio is 2. At the moment I use coaxial audio which is 1 cable and composite video which is 1 cable so 2 cables total. But component video is better than composite video so for that I would need 4 cables.viceroy wrote:All 360 games are designed for at least 720p and there is loads of downloadable HD content for the 360 too so you don't HAVE to have HD-DVD or blueray to get HD content. you can even feed HD content from your PC if you have it.Mouba wrote:That does'nt do you much good if you can only watch DVD resolution.viceroy wrote:for connection to some newer HD TVs perhaps.

HDMI is 1 cable for both.
What 1 cable are u running for HD video? vga?
Yes, VGAWhat 1 cable are u running for HD video? vga?
Audio is an optical cable
Oh, for the guys, HD is a little more than just resolution.
There is also scanning which can either be p (progressive) or i (interlaced)
480i is what normal TV's display
720p is sorta the most widely used format
1080i is an older standard and not really used. any 720p TV can display 1080i
1080p is very HD and usually only found on top end TV's bigger than 40"
BTW. Interlaced means that the only half the frame is shown in the screen at once, and the next frame shows the other half, but the images are interlaced kind like so
frame1 =
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
frame2 =
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
what you see
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
Progressive means that each frame shows the full picture and basically reduces any flickering which can happen on older interlaced displays

Well my Sony amplifier has 2xHDMI inputs and 1xHDMI output. So I can run the HDMI cable from the xbox to my amp for audio and then use the HDMI out of my amp to run it to my LCD for video only.
The thing is that Xbox should have had a range of outputs so that people can choose what they want and not wait for an upgrade in order to get what they want.
