What Internet Connection You Got?

Post by neon_chameleon »

Hey everyone,

The some other mods and I, are working on a PCF member details database to help uses by having a central record of information to consult instead of asking the poster of a question topic everytime a question is asked. It's works the same of The PC Spec's topic under the Hardware section. Please could everyone just list their type of internet connection. Don't be ashamed ofyour 56K, :) At work and at home conection. If you want list estimate average number of hours on the forums per week.

Thanks in advance.

Why not just add extra fields to users profiles to put this information into?

You mean below the avatar?

Well there's going to be quite a bit of information. None personal though, just nick, age, join date, Birthday, PC Spec's, Internet Connection, that sort of stuff. Working on a way to integrate with the site somehow, just trying to capture data first.

We trying to get cammie to help us put it maybe under registration details (and therefore under profiles), but it's a longterm thing.

So, leigh : ADSL 512. :)

No no I meant in the actual user profile - the one you get when you click on a username.

I admin on a site that uses vBulletin, and in the master Control Panel for the forums you can specify what fields are available to users to enter info for their profiles, such as birthdate, location, etc.

I assume that this forum software has similar options.

And yeah, ADSL 512k for me... until in a week or so when I get to California ;)

Ah, yes that's what we need. Need Site Admin privileges.

You leaving for California in a week? Wow, time has flown, I remember you saying "in 6 months".

Heh yeah it's all happening pretty quickly :) I got my visa last week and now we're booking tickets! So much to do still, so little time... it looks like I'll probably be leaving next weekend or just afterwards.

Leigh don't forget us when you're there. California is sooo nice. I prefer Arizona coz the peeps there are so friendly. I lived and worked in Phoenix for about six months and it was a blast. But you do get homesick after a while.

P.S. I have a 512 ADSL connection.

I've got a 512K ADSL connection...

As for time spent on the forums, it's usually about 2-3 hours a day during the week, and maybe 4-5 on weekends.

The thing is, if I get dsl, I would be online all the time ie. I would be here all the time. Never eat, never get any work done, never sleep. That's why I haven't got it. :)

Our work, where I do about 99% of my posting has a dedicated line. I download, depending on certain variables, between 2 to 3 KB to about 8KB.
