Dunno why it worked since HTML isnt allowed. And the problem you are having now, I got a while back too. Try submitting your profile without the sig and then with it. If that doesnt work PM Cameron

Is BBcode enabled in your sig?

On your profile page where you enter the sig. On the left of the sig box is the option to enable or disable BBCode or html. Are those enabled?
