Post by McGuywer »

Take a look at http://www.waterloodevelopers.com. This website surely looks like Pcformat's. What do you think?

You cant say that it is copied as there are lots of sites on the net that use the same or similar forum "software" like PhP BB 2.06 etc.

Most of the forums these days use the exact same layout thanks to the magic of open source etc.

Cheers

I agree with maxxis.

The website uses software called PHP. It could be a number of different versions, but they all have a similar layout as the software works with templates. The default templates are the same therefore the sites will look the same.

Dude PHP is a scripting language you can even create a fully functional game with it if you really want to. So taking that into account the forum software is phpBB not PHP. And yes alot of sites use it.

Also if may be freeware but it's source is copyrighted which under the GNU/GPL license doesn't really mean a thing when it comes to distributing stuff but you are not allowed to directly copy code from it into one of your own open source projects. Also believe it or not but phpBB/phpNuke is not the prefered way of running a forum or website it just works here and a fiew selected other places, there are others which gives people more freedom over what they want to see without having to go and develop an add-on module.
