2nd hand Radeon 9600XT worth it?

Post by Azgard »

One of my friends told me today he's selling his graphics card in a few months cause he wants to get a new one. He knows I don't actually have a graphics card at the moment so he asked me first.

He wants R1500 for it. It's a Radeon 9600XT 128Mb with VIVO I think and is about 4 months old.

Anyone know if I can get one cheaper else wear? Or if this is a good price?

You can find one new at around that price. Send wolves to your friend's house.
Anyone know what a 1 year old 9700pro should sell for? Original Ati card, never overclocked.

My friend told me that new they cost about R2000.

Where can I find one for R1500 new? How much would I normal 9600 with VIVO cost?

Yo Azgard,
Even Java Cafe sold them for R1600 a couple months back I remember. Buying direct from a supplier would cut that cost down to around R1500 (R1360 ex. vat in February)or so. Rectron? Sahara? Sonic? There are many peeps on the forum in whatever area you live with possible help... If you in CT, pm me...

www.computersonly.co.za sells 128MB 9600XTs for R1800 (but I don't think they have VIVO)

"Sapphire atlantis Radeon 9600 XT, 128 MB 256 bit DDR memory (Core: 400/600 mhz), AGP 8x, TV-OUT, DVI Port - Bundled Software (Tomb Raider) + Halflife 2 (Voucher)"

I've seen the cards at computers only but for graphics card their prices are not very good at all.

I need a card with VIVO, unfortunately I'm not a dealer with any places and besides I don't have a lot of money at the moment.

So a 9600XT with VIVO 5months old for R1500 is bad?

If you're on a STRICT R1500 buget, its a fair deal (unless its a really **** brand card).

This month I saw a FX5900 XT for 2150ish and according to the news nVidia cards are set to drop in price quickly and soon, so I'd wait since the FX5200 that you currently have is half decent. Or at least I think so, millions would disagree but then again they aren't playing games on a MX440 :(

I know what you mean, the 5200 seems fine to me but I don't really play any of the latest games.

The thing is the 5200 is a friends and not mine, he's lending it to me until I can get a new one, but I know he wants to sell it so I won't have it for too long.

At the moment I don't have enough money for even a 5200, I'll have to see how I can raise some cash and then decide.

It'll be quite a while until you won't be able to play new games at all with a 9600XT if thats what you're asking
