It's not going to be able to compete with Battlefield 3's GFX, but it does look like a fun ride!

I will probably be the first (if not only) person to say this.

Dedicated servers or not? No dedicated = no buy.

I played the very first MW, never got round to picking up the sequels.
Might look into this one though, looks very good.

The honest truth is that is a single player trailer and it looks good. But CoD is a multiplayer focused series.

I've had this crazy idea to reinstall cod4 a day ago. You can clearly see the change in the game going from professional precision to casual chaos when comparing black ops to mw1. CoD4 you need to HIT the target. Black ops shooting left or right of the target is good enough. Same with mw2.

So I guess the question now is will it support dedicated servers? Will it still be free? Will it be flimsy or will it be firm?

Objection!

The only reason I play CoD is for the single player element.

You beat me to it. The whole CoD community is still stuck on CoD4 because CoD5 wasnt that awesome, CoD6 didnt have dedicated servers and neither did CoD7. Now with CoD8(note: double the generation) I hope they add dedicated servers because I am tired of playing CoD4 the whole time.

I can honestly say that single player doesn't even come close to the multiplayer awesomeness.

CoD7 = black ops and it has dedicated servers. The thing is just go play black ops for a few minutes and you will see why some people see it as the worst one in the series.

I have played BlOps. I really couldn't see how most of it's reviews got such high scores.

I'm willing to bet that Activision pays certain companies to give good reviews. Next time just ask me if a game is good or not. Playability 6 out of 10.

Subjective issue is subjective.

In my not-so-humble opinion, Black Ops was one of the best FP shooters to come out in a long time. I couldn't wait to play it after getting home from work. It is the only game to tear me away from WoW for extended periods.

Agreed. Playing against intelligent, unpredictable human opponents > being put on a rail shooting at idiot AI.

Although I could appreciate the fact that there's some story to single player and more of a cinematic feel.

Well I prefer a shooter with a set amount of enemies rather than waves of terrorist hoards charging down on you. Eg Return to Castle Wolfenstein (RETURN I SAY!!!) had set enemies and not the wave after wave thing that cod has going. Even Deus Ex had a number of enemies in the area and when they are dead they are dead.

BlOPs was good for me. I enjoyed it not as much as COD4 but far more entertaining than MW2 which was a dismal game... :(

I get your argument. But then, the single player does offer more variation in terms of mechanics / settings / goals.

Console fps titles rely heavily on changing mechanics and goals, since it's really difficult to build a good combat model around thumb sticks. It's one of the reasons Killzone 2 was such a success.

It can work wonderfully as a pacing tool, but I have a feeling that it's just used to artificially extend game time in recent CoD games.

Anyone remember this? :P

CoD4 > Black Ops > MW2

But again the reason for this falls back to the basic game infrastructure namely dedicated servers.

Single player however I found black ops to be the best and then its a coin toss between cod4 and mw2. Mw2 had some lovely scenes like those in washington which was the best part but sadly it was followed by the worst parts in both games like the betrayal, airfield and the caves. Oh how I loved that nuke going off in cod4 aswell is crawling thru that field with the tanks and guards walking around you.

What I am about to say might get my shot by those old console players but I dare say that mw2 multiplayer is compareable to golden eye from the n64 days. And by that I mean the split screen multiplayer. Nothing beats beating a buddy thats benched next to you.
