Run any app off a USB drive?

Post by wonkotheinsane »

Hey, guys, do you have the experience of running your daily used apps off a USB drive?

Which is I am now trying to do. But I find that only portable apps can be run like that.

while some apps like MS office are not portably available. How can I do that?

first off, welcome to the forums... please be sure to visit these obligatory threads soonish for your complimentary instruction and infection...

secondly, the only portable outlook i've seen was some heavily modified, (and finicky), pay-for version... given that outlook expects to tie data and config to the user, it generally prefers to sit in the user's home directory... not forgetting that mickeysoft licensing is pretty rigid in this regard...

(outlook express may work... not that i'd be willing to burn the time on it...)

i know OpenOffice does this quite readily, and there are a number of linux distros, (DSL), designed to run entirely from a USB stick...

excel, etc, not so much.... i suspect you may be a fan of the new cloud-based office... rent-a-spreadsheet...

Just stumbled upon Prayaya. I installed prayaya on my USB drive and then installed MS Office 2003 suite on prayaya. It seems working very well on other computers.
