Portal 2: Ars shares the correct way to do science
By Ben Kuchera | Last updated about 18 hours ago

Portal 2 is out right now. That means you can go to the store and buy a copy. You can unlock your copy on Steam. This is not a joke—the game is out, right now! When you get home from work you can hug your kids, grab a nice beverage, and then go do some science. You monster.

Our copy came a little later than we had hoped, but I've been pouring hours into the single-player game and I have some advice for how to do things once you finally have the game in your hand and begin to play. Don't worry, this will only hurt one of both of us.

...
There are already a lot of unhappy PC fans out there. Apparently while the game is loading you get a message "Please dont turn the console off" and there is a $80 DLC released at Day 1. I am very disappointed with Valve right now... :(

/cant wait to play my Portal 2 port on console...

Not sure if ours did updates but my son is finished already. He started Wed afternoon and finished Thurs night. The end is awesome and the song is funny. I love Wheatly - and no I don't know exactly how it ends - and don't want to know until I play.

It is very funny though.

Finished Portal 2 a few days ago. There is a required 268MB download in steam before you can play (Why?). The singleplayer is just as short as the first, it took me 4 and a half hours from start to finish. I'm waiting for one of my friends to get Portal 2 as well, so that we can play co-op :) . Must...resist...to...say...

DJV was saying how disappointing this was, especially the ending, and he was a big Portal fan, so I'm a bit skeptical to buy straight away without trying it out...

Yep, here's what I thought:

I'm really disappointed. The game was far too long, and was just a whole lot of "more of the same" for me, you know? Like:
Spoiler (show)
There were the first chambers - expected. Second, old school chambers - unexpected, but also very different, so they were welcome. Then, a third batch?!

Furthermore, the very ending was just pathetic...
Spoiler (show)
Seriously, a portal on the MOON?! Couldn't they have come up with anything better?
I don't know, maybe I just had higher expectations. Portal 1 is one of my Top 3 games of all time, so I was expecting something equally amazing. Maybe that's where I ruined it for myself. I'll be honest, the game was really funny. The comedy side was amazing.

I haven't played MP yet, which I understand to be amazing. I'll play that soon. SP - bummer :(

I finished it and for me it's the best game ever. DJV does make a valid point with the game being too long. You finish a massive puzzle just for another million to wait for you.

The game brings forth more innovation(maybe a bit overused) and the humor is just awesome. As for the ending:
Spoiler (show)
DJV asked if they couldn't think of anything better. Well you don't really get much better than the moon. And I understand it was intended to be more funny than serious that ending.
Still a job well done Valve. I would love a prequal. There is still much that needs to be resolved.
