XP Mode (Win 7)

Post by Mclaren »

So, i have an app that needs XP, Design Software, Must have. So after hearing about XP MODE i dedided to download it and give it a try.

WARNING, before you download, check if your CPU supports it, as it is a 445mb file and it needs "Hardware-Virtualisation" to run.

I only found this out after downloading. Although the website does have a requirements link, i like most whom have a pc capable of running win7 would think that there is not much needed. needless to say i did not read the requirements page (I know, laugh at me now).

So i thought id just give all a heads up.

Apparantly there is a tool that can check if your cpu has Hardware vitualisation, called Securable, but i cannot find a link for the tool that works.

a link to a list of some of the CPUs that do and don't

The Wikipedia article is a bit more comprehensive on what is supported and what isn't; it also makes mention of supported AMD processors which the article linked in the first post doesn't do.
