Hello and welcome Rossi.

Welcome to RSA, where animals roam and Telkom sucks.

To answer you question yes that is a good PC, makes me want to cry actually. Here are a few good websites to order PC components from (dont buy from shops because they overcharge) .

http://www.prophecy.co.za/
http://www.pcint.co.za/components.asp (add 14% vat to the prices)
http://www.computersonly.co.za/
http://www.cyberdyne.co.za/
http://www.sybaritic.co.za/store/index.php?cPath=66_69

Id say go with PC International because their prices are really cheap but for things you cant find on PC International go to Prophecy.

Hope this helps.

PS - Mind if I ask why you moved here?

EDIT: The RAM and Graphics cards you'll have to get from Prophecy. If you want you could replace the Corsair sticks with the Mushkin sticks. They cost less (I think) and also have pretty tight timings (talking about the CL4 kit)

Looks good, the CPU,GPU and Motherboard are available online at
http://www.prophecy.co.za
I've had good results with orders from them.

The RAM can be had at
http://www.take2.co.za
also had good results with them.

I'm sure you could pick them up elsewhere as well. Just goggle and use the "Only from South Africa" tick block.

What harddrive are you going to use?
I love work,

I could watch it all day.

Are you going to be using a 64bit edition of Windows Vista or XP?

If you are planning on sticking to 32 bit (which I would recommend), you can stick to 2 gig ram. 32 bit O/S's can only recognize to 3.something gigs of ram and the rest would have been wasted.

Otherwise, looks like an awesome system...

I wouldnt buy from Sybaritic. Horrid experience with them I am having at the moment, dont know how many other people would agree....

PC International has supposedly very good service, thats what ive heard from people on this forum. Thats why I plan to buy almost all my products from them in Jan if my plans to buy str8 from the supplier fall through. I got a hook up through the Stellenbosch University.

/off topic

Also as an interesting side not - stellenbosch is now providing free internet to any body who can pick up the wireless signal in the area. My dad works for the IT depertment there and he said they recently launched it, tested it and it works. can anybody say 600kbps. :D

Thanks,

Will check out the prices.
And find a shop who actually still have the 8800gt in stock because
everywhere : no stock grrr.
I'm want the xfx xxx version is already overclockt :).
Goes better then the asus.
Also an other question i heared that the go stepping version from the Q6600 , is better to overclock you can reach 3.0 ghz.
And i'm gona use XP sp2 32bit, i used vista ultimate (cracked from the first day it launched). But it has to many bugs and *****, first my soundcard was gone , he didn't reconised it , every time i wanted to install a game with a crack i could'nt because vista blocks everything, vista looks nice but the security is to tight.

And yes for the first guy that replied,
I know how telkom sucks , they charged me 3 time for 1 account from 2 gb.
And i had too wait 3 months before i got a connection and ffs it's stuck on 384kbps, in belgium for R250, i had a 100mbps adsl line with a cap from 25 gb.
So i know internet sucks here rrrr.
And my budget is around R12000.
Normally im just under that.

First of all, welcome is SA.

Secondly, you would be well advised not to mention pirated software on this forum.....!

i know its difficult to wait, and even with my PC the urge to upgrade is strong, but I would personally wait till mid 2008 before making any purchases since Penryn will be in full swing and Nehalem will be waving hello to the world.
What I type has nothing to do with the people that employ me.

I need the new system because mine doesn't boot any more.
When i boot i get the begin screen from msi with p4 on it.
And then it freezes and reboots again and again.
Tried to reset bios no change, pullram and only putted all the ram out and only uses 256 ram.
Still nothing, b efore the pc crashed i had a eeror when i rebooted :
dram set to tightly.
And then it went rebooting.
If somebody hs any advise for this maby.

Unplug everything:

RAM
HDD
DVD-RW

Just leave the CPU and mobo attatched, see what it does. Then add RAM, then HDD
Hunt down the problem like that. It sounds like your mobo has gone bye bye though
