5ghz on phase cooling... almost 4 on air... Most likely reach 4.4 on decent water... mmmmm Why pay R10 000 for a 1ghz increase? It barely adds a 1 seconds decrease to superpi... Much rather go quad graphics and bottle neck them... but then again, if you can afford phase cooling, you most likely have quad gfx as well... Money would be no object...
LN2 Then only gave them a max of 300 more over the Cascade Phase Cooling...
Seems senseless to me then...

They don't use it 24/7, it's to break a record. What point is nitro methane burning dragsters? They can only travel 400m.Seems senseless to me then...

Why is that just over 5GHz so exciting?
When you have the World Record for X6800 on this
and when you have the Overall World Record with a Suppi Time of 17s running on this with a base temperature of -192C

Actually nope.Gouhan wrote:Yeah but its much easier to take a P4 to 8GHz than a core2 to 5.5Ghz...
And just looking at the numbers 8Ghz P4 is well, sub 4Ghz Core2 performance...
Sure it's impressive, but if everybody had access to LN2 and blocks etc... there'd be hundreds in that region :/
There's 13 people who have managed to get a Core 2 over 5.5GHz. And only one team to manage 8GHz. And as for performance, that is not a concern when going for Suicidal Overclocks.
And I don't think if everybody had access to LN2 and Pots there would be much more. When Team Thug broke the big 8 a lot of Americans joined together and started project 8, which had an ES 631 Cedarmill, and guess what. They didn't reach the target. Then, Team Thug went and broke their own record again.
