I have a old Geforce 4 MX 420 graphic card, think it might be damaged. It makes my screen flicker often and halts games during play for a few seconds. Funny thing is that while playing movies with WMP and listening to music through Winamp, there is no flickering or halting or anything...
The specs of the machine running it is...
newly installed Windows XP SP2 with updated graphic drivers.
P4 3,00GHZ 800FSB Prescott
Mobo - Intel Perl865
1024 DDR 400 RAM
120 Seagate HDD
400w PSU
Could the updated drivers be the issue or do i need to maybe flash the BIOS of the card? or do you guys have any other insite in this issue? Or is that card gone?
Graphic card flickering
it sounds like a heat issue - open up the HSF - use some acetone and then medical alcohol to remove the old thermal paste - use some arctic silver ceramique or similiar TIM (thermal interface material) and apply as per instructions on site - then reapply HSF
tell us wether that works or not

Thanks naughty & gamergirlz!
Tried all that to no avail. i also inserted another fan. checked all my temp settings and they are all around 32, with my cpu around 48. i also loaded various other operating systems ( windows 2000 SP4 and xp sp1 ) and still received the same result.
Im really stumped with this.
