 I am determined to create a watercooling system for myself, I want to make all of it including the waterblock. If anyone has suggestions and tips for me and the other people in the world who are willing to embark on the perilous journey of watercooling then please post them here!!!

I have made progress and I have gotten hold of a radiator and pump and also piping all I need to do is get or make a waterblock and buy a 12cm fan for the radiator.

hmm my spider sense is tingling . .. it can only mean that watercooling is largely uneccesary.
 
 why do you want watercooling? have you super overclocked your processor?

no, I may when I get my new system (AMD 1800+ and soltek sl 75drv-4).
 
 The main reason I did it was cos I was bored and I thought it would be a good idea, it is also a much more effective form of cooling for high heat processors eg: 1800+

 anyway . . . it looks very impressive having a watercooling system on your pc.

 and you are sort of obliged to then overclock your processor to the limit or ppl will just be like "wat a dumbass he buys watercooling and dont overclock" or something.

 like I said I am getting an XP 1800+ so I will probably end up overclocking it anyway. Hopefully it will look really kool.
 
 The rest of the project may take a while because I am at school until the 1st december and then I have 20 days to finish making my waterblock which I haven´t started yet. then I go away for a while and start school like 5-7 days later.
 
 does anyone have CAD designs of a waterblock or some form of design. I made a kind of rough hand drawn sketch of how it should look but I am not sure whether it will work or not (probably not)

nope it aint mine, im too damn lazy to get involved in water cooling. when i need more cooling i slap on another fan and ****** and moan about how crappy the airflow in my case is <IMG SRC="images/forum/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif">
 
 search on the net there is tons of stuff about how to do watercooling so im sure there will be a design somewhere of a waterblock. try <a href="http://www.virtual-hideout.net">Virtual Hideout</a> they have a bunch of mods there too. lots to drool over <IMG SRC="images/forum/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif">

 Where did you guys organize the radiator?
 
 I´m looking on the internet but can only find the whole kits, it´s gonna cost me about $250 for the whole kit plus $200 for posting to SA.
 
 I´m also looking for someone in SA that supplies the cpu water blocks.

well... the best place to get a good radiator from is a car scrap yard. Just go to them and ask for a HEATER CORE and hopefully they will give you the right thing!!!. the advantage of getting a heater core is that they are not too expensive.
 
 Try not to buy the whole kit idea, they look really nice but only buy them if you have lots of cash because things that look nice are expensive. I think that to have conqoured the massive beast which is watercooling, you have to Do It Yourself DIY (that is if you are up for the challenge.
 
 my watercooling system so far has a radiator which I got from a friend, a pump which was about R250 (1000 litres/h) and all of the piping I did myself. I amgoing to make the waterblock myself using a drill press to drill the channels and then I have a waterblock!!!

 What size is that heather core you got?
 
 I´m not to keen on the water block, don´t have the tool to make it.
 
 The rest is not a problem.
 
 Are you goin to put a water sump in your system?
 
 Are you going to do harddrive cooling, chipset cooling and screen card to?
 
 I´m keen to go the whole bang.
 
 Is the pump you got silent?

The heater core is about big enough to fit a 12cm fan on it and about 5-6cm thick. will probably get another one bcos the one at the moment don´t work sooo well.
 
 Pretty much all you need is a drill press for the waterblock.
 
 At the moment my plans are just for the chip waterblock but I will probably end up diong chipset or graphics (don´t need it now (riva TNT2))
 
 not sure about the water sump... what the hell is that anyway????????
 
 pump is pretty silent, just a faint hum.
 
 What I thought might work is the more water that you have, the lees of a radiator you have to have.
 
 This one guy got a massive gas cylinder and put it 8 feet underground!! no need for a radiator but I guess you would need one mother of a pump!!!!

 A sump is like a water reserve.
 
 The pump pulls the water from the sump then pumps it to the block then radiotor then back to the sump.
 
 The sump is handy to remove any air trap in the radiator.
 
 Some thing i also check on the net today is about what liquid you sould use in the system.
 
 They say normal tap water is the worst you can use because of lime build up in the system + is conducts electricity.
 
 The best to use is de-ionised water like you use in car batereis. This doesn´t create lime build up + is doesn´t conduct electricity as good as water.

okay so the sump is just like a container thingy which holds the liquid.
 
 as for water in the cooling system, you are right about that, the best thing to use is de-ionised water, also distilled water. I am not sure but I think that if you add antifreeze it will stop those problems. That is what cars have and they run really well don´t they!!!
 
 Speaking of liquids, there are a few other things which you can add to the liquid.
 
 I am hoping to get my website on to the net pretty soon (using geocities) and I have pages on modding and lots of other stuff (including watercooling!!! - of course)

 I have been working a bit on it but unfortunately I don´t have the right machines for the job ie. a drill press, this is the most vital part of the whole thing, the whole thing is on a bit of a standstill as I am overseas until the 15th (and then I go back to school between like the 20th-22nd, I may be able to work on it but probably not.
