What to bring
Your PC
• Tower (including power cable)
• Monitor (including power cable and D-Sub / DVI cable)
• Keyboard
• Mouse
• Headphones / Speakers
• UPS (recommended but not essential)
• Mouse pad
• Operating system and driver discs, in case you need to reload your system, for some reason.
• Game install discs
• A multi-plug and short extension if needed
• Screwdrivers
• Entrance fee and extra money for food, drinks and comps
• Warm clothes if you plan to stay overnight
• Sleeping materials if you plan to sleep
Recommendations
• Register, if you just pitch up we can’t guarantee you a place!
• We recommend you use Windows XP or Vista and that you have antivirus and firewall software installed and up-to-date. We take no responsibility for any damage you may incur at the LAN.
• If you do use another operating system (eg. Linux) we will do our best to accommodate you.)
Prepare your PC the day before by doing the following:
• Ensure everything is working (hardware and software)
• Run Windows update and ensure your installation is fully up-to-date
• Update your antivirus and do a full system scan
• Install Apex DC++ and hash your files to save time
• Have all the games you want to play patched and installed
• Defragment your drives to get your PC working best
Rules
• No smoking will be permitted in the hall
• No alcohol will be permitted at the LAN
• Any illegal activities, are not permitted, obviously
• You will not be allowed to roam the school, everywhere will be locked, but if we find you somewhere you shouldn’t be you will be asked to leave.
• If you are found cheating in any game you will be banned from all future Proximity events and asked to leave.
• Use headphones if possible (if you use speakers and they’re too loud we will ask you to turn them down, or leave)
• Using network scanning utilities at the LAN is forbidden, we will find you and ask you to leave with not refund, so don’t do it!
• Running any packet capturing software is also not allowed, again we will find you and ask you to leave with no refund!
