Loslyf, as DAE JA VOO has said, all Xbox 360's could possibly RROD or scratch disks, but the new consoles are said to be less prone to that kind of thing.
Does your Xbox 360 have an HDMI port? If it does, then it is one of the new range, which means it also has an improved heatsink and apparently a DVD drive which doesn't scratch disks.

XBox Live question(s):
The 12 month gold card that you can order from Take2 ...
Firstly, I see they are US imports, so are they redeemable if you wish to register as a UK account?
Secondly, what are the pro's and con's of US and UK Live accounts (other than the fact the the $ exchange rate is cheaper)?
Thirdly, what benefit do you get from the Marketplace points?
I will activate my Gold trial account later today, so answers to my questions would be of great help

1) I'm not sure. It seems that some codes work on both US and UK accounts. The place i buy my codes from has codes that work on US and UK accounts
2) UK accounts are slightly more expensive, but they have far better downloadable goodies
3) Using points, you can buy a whole lot of goodies. Like add-ons for games and so on. For example, a new Forza 2 Car pack was just released. I think it cost about 800 points and it had about 10 new cars. You can also buy new themes for the dashboard, etc etc

The differences between the mongoose and pro:
Mongoose has HALO3 theme: Different colour console, hdd, headset and control
Mongoose comes with play and charge cable
Mongoose has HDMI (Older pro's didnt have it)
Mongoose runs quiter (Depends on which pro you have, newer ones are also quiet)
Mongoose comes with Halo3 content voucher
Mongoose comes with a shorter network cable (well mine did)

I see that the "Jasper" revision is due in August.
Do any of you know when it will be reaching our shores?
Have any of you tried Joytech's VGA cable for the Xbox 360?
I can get one for R240 am wondering whether it would be better to get one of these or the official Microsoft part.

XBOX 360 HDMI sound problem
I got my XBOX 360 Arcade 3 months back, after that got myself Test drive unlimited, PGR3 & communication headset (which was almost impossible to find).
Then I made my biggest mistake buying a non XBOX 360 HDMI cable & HDMI to DVI adaptor.
There is nothing wrong with the HDMI cable(looks like good quality), works perfect on our 32" Samsung TV, streams audio & video perfectly.
Thing is when I want to kick back into my bed and play XBOX 360 in my room on my 22" Samsung 2232GW, obviously DVI adaptor doesn't stream audio & the 2232GW doesn't have speakers. The original XBOX 360 RCA/AV cable can't fit in next to the HDMI cable & you can't stream audio through the communication headset.
Any ideas on how to get sound out of my XBOX 360? Maybe compatable USB earphones OR buying a VGA cable & connecting my HIFI?

re: "RCA-3.5mm jack"
I opened my XBOX 360 original packaging and took everything out. Can't find any RCA-3.5mm jack.
Here is a picture of all the components I got with my XBOX 360 :
This is what my XBOX360 looks like at the back:
And this is my problem:
Remember that I have to use my HDMI cable with the HDMI-DVI adaptor to use my 2232GW as the 2232GW doesn't have AV or HDMI.
The problem is, how to get sound out of the XBOX360 while the HDMI cable is connected to my 2232GW, as the component(AV) cable won't fit in next to the HDMI.
I also phoned a friend, and he has a smaller component(AV) cable for me, will try that tonight & keep you posted.
