according to penny-arcade this game is not that good, and neither was MGS 3. Any comments?

This game is absolutely brilliant. 3 hours into the game and I can't stop playing.
You'll especially enjoy some scenes if you've played the previous games.
This game is as great as they said it would be.

Tycho wrote: If we are focusing the aperture exclusively on the gameplay, I can tell you in only a few words what I don't like about MGS. If I fail at sneaking, the game ceases to be Metal Gear. In the space of a second, it becomes an incredibly clumsy action game. The boss battles are comprised almost entirely of this other system, a mechanism that has now been exposed for what it is: a punishment.
Only six or so hours in to the new version, there are improvements to the recipe. They've done what they can inside their framework to make the combats that do occur feel more like part of a whole game, as opposed to some *****-greased chute into a dungeon for bad players. They've made the most basic concessions to modernity and ergonomics. I don't know if I'm supposed to laud that, or what. The rest of it is incontrovertibly "Metal Gear." You're hanging out with a monkey, and then a guy poops for ten minutes. Then someone tells you to challenge fate, but also accept your destiny, which I'm pretty sure is a contradiction. It's just horrible.
I hated the game less. Is that sufficient?

IGN wrote: Is it possible to give a game an 11? If so, this would be the game that would merit that score. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a title that exceeds all of the hype that was attached to the title. Regardless of whether you've seen every trailer and screenshot, read every preview and heard every interview, you won't get a full sense of how phenomenal this title is unless you sit down and experience it for yourself.

Wowzers... how come so many games are getting perfect scores this year?
Either the standards have dropped or we really are lucky. I guess I'll have to play a few of these to know.

Penny-Arcade knows not what they're talking about.
From personal experience you can choose to sneak around or go all out without compromising the Metal Gear Solid experience.
Play the game and you'll see for yourself.

The only thing that bothers me about the metal gear solid series is the fact that snake is aging faster than you can say "wtf", other than that thouroughly enjoyed mgs2 sol, didn't play 3 but played 1 as well coz I'm mostly a pc gamer, but it doesen't really matter coz I'm thinking of getting into console soon now as well, I'll probably pick it up once I get a console and all, is it on xbox 360??? Coz Hidieo Kojima is still doing a brilliant job from what I can see judging by how the previews look.
