Well, the official word out is that the GTX 260 will cost $449 and the GTX 280 will cost a whopping $649! Now we in SA always get ripped off, so me thinks you can multiply those dollar prices by 10 at least... 8OInterfan wrote:I want to know pricing before I get exited.

EISH! Thats right though, cause ATM Its looking like this
8800GT ~R2200
9800GTX ~R3000 (just upgraded 8800GT really)
GTX 260 ~R4500
GTX 280 ~R6500
So yea...
we wont mention the 8800GTS 512 thou cause its more expensive atm then the 9800GTX and doesnt perform aswell, and the 9800GX2 hasnt proved itself yet...

If we can believe the rumours, the GTX 280 will outperform the 9800GX2 by 40%. If so, even the GTX 260 will outperform the 9800GX2 (even if only by a small margin).Skidd wrote:Ye rob, however a 9800GX2 might be an alternative if the prices come down enough.
The 9800GX2 is expensive to manufacture - I doubt it will come down in price all that much. Even if they drop R2000 off the RRP, it will still be same price as the new 260GTX...

Those prices should hold, there is nothing to replace the 8800GT at the R2k-R2.5k mark so 8800GTs should hold their values, maybe lose R500. 9800GX2s will lose the most value. Some specials will probably happen round about now, retailers trying to clear stock. The 8800GTS is rare because nVidia will be using those chips in the 9800GTX.RobThePyro wrote:EISH! There is a replacement 8800GT card coming out but word has it that this card will only be out later in the year. Anyone with a 8800GT should feel very happy with their purchase as it's certainly the best performing card in it's price range and there are very few games out there that it cannot deal with (besides the mother of them all, Crysis that is).
Just a heads up that http://www.landmarkpc.co.za will have the full range of EVGA 260 and 280 cards (Standard, SC, SSC etc) available at launch. I can't say when the cards will be launched yet (NDA) but CD has it very well pinned
We'll also have the HIS 4850 and 4870 cards in stock at launch (IMO the card to have).
