What to get? PS3 or Xbox360

Although my advice would be to look at which titles are available now for each console as well as which titles are coming out soon, especially if they're exclusive to one console. Then decide which games you'd most likely want to play and buy a console suited to the games you wanna play.

But guess im leaning towards the xbox at the moment. Dont have a HD tv, no money to buy blue ray dvds and wouldnt mind saving some cash when buying games. Only thing is the expected lifetime of the xbox :/

Connect your PS3 to your monitor. Hdmi to Dvi. It works wonders and it's the closest you'd get to HD quality if you can't afford a HDTV.

OMG why?!

Its such a waste of money. I mean 4 grand on a console that doesnt even offer anything substatial over its 2 grand competition....

Sure it has better graphics and blue ray and u can put linux on it (why i do not know) but the Xbox360 is amazing. You can pick one up for R2000 now and play all the new releases.

At more than R4000 for a PS3 that does the same thing i dont hink its worth it.

BTW how many of you ps3 owners do have a 1080p HDTV?

I own an HDTV, the ps3 and the 360, trust me, ps3 is better.

If I had to choose between a PS3 and a 360, I would choose the PC.

It is, really, there are a few reasons for this, apart from the 360 being a bit iffy. Here's an example: Gears of war and Unreal tournament 3 use the same engine, Gears of war can stutter a little where unreal 3 runs like a charm on the ps3. It's just that it might cost more, but it will last longer as it is simply more powerful. the games might be the same now, but it won't stay that way. Please dont misconstrue this as me putting pc's down. I love pc's, but got tired of having to constantly upgrade to play a few games and then upgrade again, or of buying a game where my system would be way above the system requirements and it would run really poorly. I don't want to edit config files and tweak settings just to get a game to run, never mind paying all that for a pc....it's just easier, and look up far cry 2 for the ps3...there is really nothing wrong with the graphics. just my opinion.

Running Linux on the PS3 is a huge advantage over the 360 though. It can basically act as an HTPC in your living room.

All in all, this generation of consoles has given the consumers a choice. What do I need in a console and how much am I prepared to spend? ... are the real questions.

I bought a Xbox and its Pretty damn good.... A ps3 is a lot of money and the new xbox arcades come with wireless controllers and with the balance in the price u can buy GTA 4 for the box ;p

I remember reading somewhere that the Xbox 360 does not offer a True HD experience; that it lowers the resolution of games to handle it better. Is this true at all?

I had a 360, games are great and you have a much wider selection than PS3. I sold the 360 for the PS3 simply because of the blu ray player, that's all. But still graphics suck on both consoles versus a high end pc.
