but why the hell is it so popular? there are other maps that involve more skill than crossfire so it cant be for a skill reason. Must be because you can snipe easily in it...
/frigss i saw you are part of a clan now?

I also think it's because of the sniping, I hate getting sniped especially on that map. Watching the killcam after and it's always some guy sitting zoomed in waiting for someone to run in front of him... what skill! Agreed irt other maps requiring more skill, no sitting in one place the whole time zoomed in waiting for easy kills!!
/Yea, used to be in CraK when I played BF2142, played clannies and all. They got really big so when I started COD4 didn't want to be in a big serious clan but they have recently had a big "clean out" where a lot of members left to join uns because the founder of ubs and CraK got married so they wanted to merge the clans. A couple die hard crakkies didn't want so CraK is still going on a much smaller and more relaxed scale. Most of my old BF2142 mates are still original crakkies so I rejoined. --> lol, guess that's the long of it
--> --> Good to see you on hardcore now and again, you are much more difficult to kill now, lol!

I am starting to get a little more comfortable now with hardcore and am starting to get the right weapons so it all helps .

Call of Duty 4: v1.6 Patch & Maps Released (PC)
We offer impressions as four free new maps hit the PC.
By Sal 'Sluggo' Accardo | June 4, 2008
A few months ago, Activision and Infinity Ward released a special four-level DLC pack for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, giving fans of the military shooter -- like us -- some new settings to play in. Now, those four maps are arriving on the PC as part of a free v1.6 patch. We had a chance to check out the maps a few times this week, first against the game's playtesters, and then against the general public (the patch was initially in limited release and is now hitting every corner of the Internet), and all it's done is rekindled our love for our 2007 Game of the Year.
The first map we checked out was "Chinatown" (because, as we all know, just like every "Star Wars" game needs a Hoth level, every FPS needs a Chinatown level). The map is medium-sized, and despite the modern setting, it felt extremely familiar, with lots of alleys to sprint through, buildings to take cover in, and a few rooftops to scramble across. It's a map that lends itself towards close combat and mid-range weapons. There aren't many wide-open spaces, so keep your knife ready.
The next map is "Creek," which is pretty much the polar opposite of "Chinatown." Set in an open forest area with hills, valleys, a scant few buildings and even a tunnel through a cave, "Creek" is a sniper's paradise, with lots of bushes to hide in and pick off enemies as they appear. The snipers were a particular terror to us while playing the game's Headquarters mode, which requires you to capture an area and hold it. Once one team would grab the HQ, their snipers -- already entrenched on the perimeter of the map -- would zero in on the location from afar and pick off anyone near it.
The third map is a bit more unique and chaotic: "Killhouse." It's not a remake of the training missing from CoD4, but it's certainly inspired by it. Being on the small side (larger than "Shipment" but smaller than "Wet Work"), the map isn't really suited for more than eight players, but of course you know servers will run it anyway, leading to insane matches where you'll be lucky to survive more than three seconds. It should make for some good 4v4 matches, however, and it also gives CoD4 a solid free-for-all deathmatch map, something every shooter can always use.
The final new level may be the best of the bunch. "Broadcast" is the TV station level lifted from CoD4's single-player campaign, reformatted here for multiplay. Although we first gave it a ride in team deathmatch, it was far more fun in Domination mode (where teams try to juggle control of three different points on the map for as long as possible). With one control point on the roof of the station, another right in the middle of the large control room, and the last one way outside, the map had both teams scrambling in every direction and provided nonstop action. At one point we managed to capture all three points at once and it turned into a tense standoff, with two or three players stationed at each point, not knowing which point the entire enemy team might come storming any second. Turns out it was ours.
PC owners can now grab the v1.6 patch and map pack at Fileplanet. See you on the servers!
