Envy Installer
Hi I Posted A Topic A Couple Of Days Ago, I Am Trying To Install Nvidia Drivers On My Ubuntu Ultimate Gamers Edition, When I Try To Run The Envy Package With Gdebi, I Get An Error. Please Help

First things first, go change the root password. Once thats done go into terminal, type in the

Otherwise, easier options to get your drivers working is to simply enable them in Restricted Drivers Management, or use Envy

Installing the drivers from the NVidia site is no easy task. you need to make sure you have the linux-restriced-modules-generic .debs that correspond to your kernel. Those you can get from Synaptic. Then you need to go into a terminal and run init 3. Then you need to login in as root and change dir to where you downloaded the driver file to. Then you need to run "sh Nvidia-xxx.run". All in all, its not worth it to try and get the drivers from the NVidia site as the compilation and everything else really outweighs the need for the latest driver. Rather install envy or use "restricted driver manager"
