They activated my card right there and said max 24 hours until my SIM activation went through and I could use the thing, but browsing Hellopeter and MYADSL I see some people have waited for up to a week for activation...

How fast was it for you guys.
i just activated the hsdpa 3.6 service on my account settings - im prepaid!

Yes, just put the relevant amount om airtime on your phone then dial *111# to purchase a data bundle. Cost gets deducted from your prepaid airtime.

Yo're welcome. Just a note, get yourself a 3g phone. GPRS is soooo slow you will hate it. Download speed on GPRS is like 3Kbs compared to 40-50 Kbs on a 3G Phone. Best is to get a 3G Modem if you can afford to buy one cash (R2000).

Well this is kinda weird but it seems the 3.6 has taken effect now - suddenly I'm getting 256k downloads!!! Woohooooo!! I first noticed that videos were streaming better off places like Youtube and now, true as bob, downloads are almost 10x faster than before!

I am using edge, and get downloads of 30kbps. Not fast but much faster than dialup. When do you think 3g would be available in all of SA?

Definately not - check the coverage maps on www.vodacom.co.za or www.mtn.co.za to see which areas have 3g coverage.
