Getting a new graphics card. Your comments please.

Post by Waltzero »

Hi guys I'm thinking of getting a new graphics card but the only problem is that I JUST CAN'T CHOOSE.

Ok well I can either get an XFX 8800GTS 320 MB XXX or an Nvidia 8800GTS 320MB or anything else in that price range. Please help me choose.

Thanks :D

As far as I know, the xfx card will just be a little overclocked, but that you can do yourself on the nvidia one  What is die price difference between them?

Rather get an 8800gt if you can find stock much faster compared to 8800gts 320mb.

Is it better or worse than the 8800gts 320MB

Get an 8800GT. Its about R1000 cheaper than the GTS and it performs much better. Prophecy might have some extra stock available next week once all the pre-orders are shipped. I would pre-order one from them or email them and make an enquiry.

Ja, the 8800GT is a safe bet.. If you can get a 3870 for about R2000 then thats worth it, but if you can afford the 8800GT rather get that.. :)

If your strapped for cash go for the HD3870 but otherwise order yourself the 8800GT. You can get the 8800 for an average price of about 2,6 - 2,7k. SHop around and you will find it lower, saw a special (cant remember where) and it was goin for R2399

Is an Nvidia 8800GT any better or worse than the ASUS one or are they all the same?

8800GTS 512 isn't out yet first of all. And will be about a R1000 more expensive than a 8800GT.
Nvidia make the graphics cards, and then they are branded with stickers later eg. asus, inno etc. Only the warranty will differ and the OC etc. So there is no real difference between brands.

If you can get an 8800GT, take it regardless of brand. As long as it has a warranty.
