NIC uninstalling itself

I have a Compaq P1,40MB Ram,3Gig HDD running Win98.My NIC keeps uninstalling it self after running 100% for a week or two.Reinstalled Win98 and new NIC did not help.I have to swicth it to a diffrent PCI every time and only then will the drivers install.Any help please <IMG SRC="images/forum/smilies/icon_confused.gif">
