The official TrackMania Nations thread.
Hehe....
Guys I have a sad announcement to make...
=================================
When I started playing TMN, I decided I would compete and increase my skills so I can make it to ESWC and represent my country. Every time I hear the sa national anthem playing in the game I feel proud, and strangly patriotic.
I started playing a month ago during my exams, and I have become #1 in South Africa.
Unfortunately I have just found out I have done dismally in my exams, and I have decided that my studies are much more important than being the best in some game. What will give me the better future?
What influenced me at first was a buddy called KIWINinja.
Me and him both started racing together, and in a month he became number 1 in New Zealans and I became number 1 here. When we got there, we both played together and broke the top 1000, then went to top 500 in the world. We were always competing for who would get to the next level first, and when I challenged him to get to top 300 he declined.
He has decided that his studies are more important that being the best in a game, because you cant do well in your studies AND be the best in a game.
BOTH require dedication... both require long hours of practise... etc etc.
Well now that my competition has left, I have thought hard and decided, I am doing en engineering degree here! WTF!
If I become an engineer I can retire early and become #1 in the world like Lilo and co, cause I will have all the time to do that.
ESWC would be next year, and the only reason I competed hard in this game was so I would represent south africa next year... But next year is the third and toughest year of my degree and I wont have time to practise TMN.
So with this I am saying goodbye to TMN and goodbye to all my friends who fought hard with me these last few days to break into the hundreds.
I was also gonna become admin of the greatest server in the world, KTD's =LIT=, so don't think this is easy for me.
IMO I would have liked Turbo to go to ESWC and represent, but he says his studies are al;so important.
Well I will be playing still these holidays, just not competitively, so expect my rank to drop quick.
Oh and who knows, maybe in december I will have time and I will retake my number 1 position, because I am sure that if turbo doesnt take it, somebody else will... I hope. South Africa is really behind in world rankings and we need players to get points!
Oh and I still rate I am the best.

Hell Zell, (like that 1 ?) it's a game and shouldn't consume you. It's what they call "leading a balanced life" I can put in more than my share at the office and still find time for a race or two (or 3...or 4 ). Getting your priorities straight is obviously a good thing, but it doesn't have to be either..or. I'm all for competition, but not to the extent where it rules your life. I can be competitive in most sports I do, BUT....I can play them just for fun too
Yeah I am competitive in everything I do...
Damn if having the biggest afro was a competition I would have won... see that is who I am, I dont care what it is, whatever I do the competition supercedes the fun, hence I played on Jamlan instead of fun tracks... but I got to the fun part with work.
But yeah its about my priorities. My mom was all proud when i was #1 in SA, but when she saw my exam results boy was she pissed!
Yeah well studies>games.
Right now I went on LIT and I played for fun, and for the first time I enjoyed myself when i didnt come top 10... although most I do, but many I don't.
You shoulda seen me when i started with Quake 3 last year december.... I would play for 24 hours straight sometimes...
But this time around I was also competing hard in CSS RPG while playing TMN... so 8 hours TMN, 8 hours CSS RPG, 8 hours sleep.
Thanks for the respect dudes.
Makes me really happy I made my decision.

Bru I didnt say I was the best, I said I was working to become the best.XL-TURBO wrote:Dude really. you are hardly the best...Zell wrote:I have decided that my studies are much more important than being the best in some game.
Getting most points, yes. When i overtake you on the ladder i wont be the
best at the game, i'll only have the most points...
And I still rate I am better than all the SAfricans...
Those people on the nedrsa server who rate they are the best, they just play the same maps all day, and when I went on there and came first on maps I never saw before, they still rated they are better than me... well too bad.
EDIT: And I also believe max points doesnt make one the best... so dont worry. lilo and the top 10 guys... I played them and beat them.
But if you think those exe guys are the best, then even more wrong. They play only the same maps...
EDIT2: And please lets not make this an ego contest.
Its about me deciding to move on...
