DirectX Problems

I am running Win98 on an Athlon 2000 XP, 128Mb RAM, 80Gb HDD and a Geforce 4 Ti 4200. Whenever i try go into a game my screen just switches off. When i go into Warcraft III it brings up an error message, unable to initiate directx, please reinstal it from the Warcraft III cd. I have tried reinstalling directx but it has the same error. I have the latest drivers from leadtek. When i run dxdiag, the screen switches off when i run the direct draw tests, and it is unable to run the direct3d tests. I have tested my Geforce in a different pc and it runs fine. Please Help!!!

i have tried installing directx 9, but it still does the same thing. i formatted my computer already and tried installing all the drivers, but it still does not work

my bros pc is also doing that, not saying direct x errors but when it gets to the menu of all games
the monitor light goes from green to orange then only a reboot gets it back if u find what the prob is pls let me kno
his pc is the same as mine xept he has a 8500 pro and not a 9700 pro
my px works fine bought at the same time
specs r
2,4ghz p4
512 ddr 400
epox mobo
5.1 sound card

weve changed monitors ram and cpu
the mobo?
what u think

Have you got the latest DirectX 9? DirectX 9.0b.

If not you can download it here.

This is the official DirectX 9.0b. There were some flaws with the first two versions of 9.0.

If its possible try Windows Update. Sometimes that seems to help.

I Know!! I also choked when I saw it, but I am lucky in the sense that I have ADSL at work and my job requires me to download it.

But would you expect Microsoft to bring out something necessary and keep it in a small package, I think not!

I got my new mobo, and everything works perfectly. It even increased my 3d mark score by 2000.
