Aquamark3 benchies

I'm using Trancend, at 2.5 3 3 6 and got it up to 460Mhz and managed to crack 11K on AM3 and 70K overall. Will get some heatspreaders for the memory.... since they are non-existing at this stage. Went lower on the FSB to help the memory with (230 x 11) on cpu and the outcome was great for the time being.... till I manage to get the 500Watt PSU I ordered.... The 400Watt doesn't keep up..... with the GFX, since to oc and softmod sux up power, you can actually see the frames decreasing, some places even stands still, for a second or so and then continue, and no errors.

The 2.5 is CAS, but some memory can go 2 and usually that would be those OCZ or so memory. Like to get my hands on those. The other's would be TRAS and I'll write down the other's tonight to put them on tomorrow. But the easiest way would be to run CPUID or so and check your mem latency timings. Then try to tighten them a bit, but the CAS if it's standard 2.5, leave it so, otherwise you'll need to reset you BIOS since then system would not startup if CAS is wrong....

a question to MrBean and VodooProphet i have and old system it uses DDR266 thats how old now i can switch the memory between DDR266 speeds and SDRAM133 speeds whats the advantage of doing this? when would i actually be required to do this? cause it slows the system down if i had to change it. hehe. i would appreciate some help on RAM overclocking as well guys. dammod one thing as well if your overclocking your mem test it with memtestx86 i think its called make a bootable cd then boot with it and test your ram after each new settings, and also use prime95 to test for system stabilty.

I just realised why you can get the sort of scores you do in AM3... your Athlon 64 is skt 939, mine's only skt 754, so that's why I haven't been able to even have a sniff at the sort of scores you get.
Oh well, maybe I'll get myself a 4000+ Athlon 64 and try again.

Not true. In 3dMark03, a 3500+ will knock the socks of your 3700+, given all else being kept equal. Why?Aq3 is a memory intensive benchmark...No, its the fact that he has a 3500+ and you have a 3200+...the socket does not really make difference apart from the memory bandwidth. Like my 3700+ would beat his 3500+ dispite mine being socket 754.
Best Solo could get with a 3700+ overclocked to 2.65gig, and a 9800Pro clocked to 515/425, was around 55k. In comes a wimpy 3200 Winchester clocked to 2.4gig, and a 9800XT clocked quite a bit lower, and make 62k....
So, yeah....all the difference in the world I would say. In this case bandwidth wins hands down.
But still... even with my chip clocked at 2.5 GHz (the same speed voodoo's was running at, to acheive the 68K), and my 6800 GT running @ Ultra speeds, I can't match his score.
I'm sure memory bandwidth must make a difference then (with skt 939's being dual-channel and skt 754's being single channel)?

Yup I've seen it a few time now.... 939's mem bandwidth makes a huge difference..... as I said... when I run the cpu at 2.5 (250 x 10) and mem is at 418mhz I get about 6000 - 6100 on Sandra05's mem bandw test and 68K on AM3 and when I take the FSB to 130 x 11 and the mem is sitting at 460Mhz with the CPU at 2.53 I get 70K on AM3 and 6600mb/s on Sandra...

can someone please tell me why i would want to underclock my memory? so instead of it runnning at 266 i make it run at 133? do you do that give your machine more overclock?

The only exp would be you FSB..... To explain to you.... I clocked my cpu at 250FSB x 10..... and if the mem is set at 200 (400Mhz) then it wil sit at 500 with the 2:1 divider, and my mem would not cope with that so I take it down to 166 (333) and with the 250 FSB the mem wil sit at 416 Mhz which works okay. That divider would be 5:3 If I'm correct. That means, (I work it out that way, and it works) 250 FSB divided by 3 and multiplied by 5 which gives you 416.

Dammod, you should get up to 10K with CAS2.5 mem, and will klimb higher with CAS2. Have you tried putting them on 2.5, and not auto or so. My brothers rig says 3CAS, and I changed it to 2.5 CAS, no ill effects or instability.
The main thing that will keep you back is that your chip, or lets say it's mem controller does not support dual channeling I think (might be wrong), and that helps mine alot. If I run my spu stock, with CAS I should get 10500 cpu or so.

That is what I got when I put my timing just like yours Vodoo. 2.5,3,3,6
For us to compare, put ur whole rig to stock and ur timings like mine (2.5,3,3,6) but only overclock your graphics card (try get it to stock Ultra Speeds). With your rig like this post your scores....this should give a better indication of how much the Dual Channel helps.

Dammod, here bellow is a post from a dude at AM3 that took his FSB on his 3400+, same chipset as yours the cpu just bellow your spec up to 295 or so, but he says you can take it up to 305 in single channel, but pushing the memory that far, you'll need to lower the timings. His CPU score in AM3 is far above the 12K, not yet 13K. SO I'll say you can do well.
Will post you my scores as soon as I run the bench tonight, with my new GT in it...... SO my long term aim would be 75 - 80K AM3...

Im using some very good tccd memory, so everything is 1:1...no dividers. If I remember correctly, the mem was running timings of 3-4-4-8 2T, ldt was set to 3. It took 1.7vcore, the chipst voltage was at 1.6v, 2.8v to the mem. You might try setting your pci latency to 64, that allowed me to push a little harder. Also use a64 tweaker to tighten other memory timings.
If you are running dual channel, it is possible for the a64 mem controller to be holding you back. My system will do 305+mhz fsb single channel. But I was after memory bandwidth.
