Gold is shared? I thought gold is picked up by only 1 person. And as far as I remember you dont get xp for standing far away.

Gold isn't shared. It wasn't on the beta anyways. I have not yet played co-op on the full game.StarBound wrote:Gold is shared? I thought gold is picked up by only 1 person. And as far as I remember you dont get xp for standing far away.
EDIT: Better explanation, my experience from Beta with regards to gold: You kick a barrel, gold drops out for 1 or 2 people (random), then each person has to go and pick up their own gold separately.

Re: Diablo 3 Official!!!
It would make sense if they had the same system that they had in D2, where gold is shared by the party equally.
Else, you'd have people that start botting and running up to the gold before anyone else can reach it.

Re: Diablo 3 Official!!!
gold, magic find and XP are shared within the 'party'...
collecting the gold drop ups the party's pool, but you don't receive the full drop.
<edit>
i don't mind them sitting in town leeching XP... i mind that the rest of us get stuck at event timers...

Re: Diablo 3 Official!!!
Well I killed the Skeleton King and my Barbarian did not break a sweat . Think I am going to upgrade to hardcore since this is going a tad to easy for me. I am levelling up nicely, nearly all my armour is giving me experience .

Re: Diablo 3 Official!!!
Well I want a challenge . If my character dies so be it, will start again. I am just getting ... bored with the battles not being so tense. The point before you enter the Skeleton Kings crypt where you have those 4 pillars generating skeletons, I ran around to get them to follow me away from the pillars just to so that the pillars could stay up while I level up and get a good fight going. I actually blame the health orb drops, they drop when your health is getting low and provide an immediate boost. Lets see what the new Act brings, hopefully it will be tougher...

Man I love Penny Arcade comics...
Next item is a bit of a spoiler alert item. I say spoiler alert because A: It is a hidden level, think Cow level but a lot more rainbows. B: Gives you item list of how to get there.

Re: Diablo 3 Official!!!
How's the single player lag everyone was concerned about? Would it be playable on a 3g connection?

Diablo 3 Official!!!
Mine was really bad last night - pings around 1-2seconds.
Yesterday afternoon was fine however. Pings around 300ms.
I managed to kill my barbarian twice. Threw him in to the thick of things and forgot to watch his health :/

I've been playing using my Cell C HSPA modem and it's been perfectly smooth, no lag or anything like that whatsoever, think the "always online" aspect literally just pings their servers every now and again in the background to check you're legit. That being said, not interested in parties or the like, just playing Single PlayerOnlyOneKenobi wrote:How's the single player lag everyone was concerned about? Ok I'm also not going to bother with multiplayer too much - just heard rumours that even single player games were affected by lag.Jonboy wrote:I've been playing using my Cell C HSPA modem and it's been perfectly smooth, no lag or anything like that whatsoever, think the "always online" aspect literally just pings their servers every now and again in the background to check you're legit. Re: Diablo 3 Official!!!
@Jonboy what times did you play?
@Monty HTH do you manage to kill your own Barb? (you meant you 'let him die' ) that is also my case with my Barb almost getting killed once or twice. I storm in with no regard to how many there are or what types. that is mos how you roll Barb or am I wrong?

I played last night from 8pm until 11pm (EU servers of course)Off-The-Chart wrote:@Jonboy what times did you play?
Still holding thumbs that Blizzard buckles to the pressure and releases a batch that divorces the SP game from the always online requirement. Then it would be perfect. Right now it's getting 90% in my books, just checkpointed after

Re: Diablo 3 Official!!!
Lag was bad last night regardless of "single" player or multiplayer. Disconnected 3 times.
I give the game 9/10. The reason being simply that you can't play lagless offline. I really hope Torchlight 2 doesnt try to copy E37

Re: Diablo 3 Official!!!
brother found out house across from him, outside their complex, has got ADSL line yet he was told they don't support his area for at least another 12mnths :@
so we want to see how he will do with something like his 3G.
think will give him a guest pass and let him try it out would be best bet.

your 'client' is essentially art and assets... everything else happens server side.Jonboy wrote:think the "always online" aspect literally just pings their servers every now and again in the background to check you're legit.
while your client pushes input updates to the server, the server pushes physics data back to the client....
forget single player... won't happen. they'd need to tear both the server and client code to pieces in order to achieve that..
killed my barb twice more trying to up the one-hit-kill count (also, molten boss + pack of gigantic blues is cheating! )...
i'd give a grudging 8/10. autonomous character progression is still a bugbear for me but the game plays like it should and the mobs are suitably entertaining...

Re: Diablo 3 Official!!!
Thanks, that's actually the first time somebody's explained how the heck this always-online system works. That just begs the question though, what happens if they shut servers off in say 10-years? There's still a number of people that play DII, so should the same apply to DIII 12-years on, they would need consistent server support until then?rustypup wrote:your 'client' is essentially art and assets... everything else happens server side.Jonboy wrote:think the "always online" aspect literally just pings their servers every now and again in the background to check you're legit.
