Both actually... as I can't root my Sony Erricson. SE got really creative with the bootloader so that you can root the phone but you can't load another OS not encrypted with their security keys.

Welcome to the Android World! I reckon Ruad should root your phone since he has been denied access to his Sony .

On the other hand she has no reason to root her phone at all... No seriously... none whatsoever... not even a smidgen of a reason.

Ah but there are things I would like to do and use that I cannot as it is not a rooted device. The Tablet is and I can use them there. Most of the apps on the phone are battery hungry and I believe that a rooted device can manage it's power much better.

You do have a point. One app that would work nicely for her if she is on a budget would be DroidWall, to be able to block what apps use your data connection and what uses your WiFi is a godsend.RuadRauFlessa wrote:On the other hand she has no reason to root her phone at all... A rooted device by itself will not manage power better. All what root does is give you admin (super user) access to your phone so that you can install apps and other ROMS to help with either better speed, battery life and many other things.Tribble wrote:Ah but there are things I would like to do and use that I cannot as it is not a rooted device. i do miss the simplicity of the older phones regarding sms messages.... but i guess i will still get used to it all...
