Mobile phone upgrade - help me choose.
Re: Mobile phone upgrade - help me choose.
Either way, I will be getting a 2nd charger and battery for whatever device it is I end up with.
Re: Mobile phone upgrade - help me choose.

Re: Mobile phone upgrade - help me choose.
Just adding the the amount of chargers we all have.
When I got my Desire I bought myself another two USB cables for it.
So now I have:
* One for work
* One for home
* One for my car
I'm never without a charger anymore.
Galaxy II FTW. At least you'll get updates fast. The rest of us have to wait (optionally).

+1 To Norris, I have the charger for home. A USB cable for work and my faithful Car Dock for when I am driving.

I have decided to go for the E7. My 9300 won't cut it for much longer. Woohoo!

Re: Mobile phone upgrade - help me choose.
I am going to hijack this thread for a sec. I need an android phone and am looking at the Samsung Galaxy S (the 2 is not available on upgrade atm). Any reason why I should not choose this as my next phone?

Re: Mobile phone upgrade - help me choose.
Well I have the Galaxy Tab so I want something that shares characteristics with that. Although it is a phone - it is a bit big to be used as such. I love the look of the screen and the S has the same screen. But other than that - I am not fussy. Not keen on Nokia though or Windows phones. I wants an Android. So ja - want a phone, address book, calendar, tasks, camera with no less than 5megapix. Must have wifi as I might not go for a data bundle. I do like a bigger screen and full keyboard.

HTC Desire Z? I think I'll pop over to MTN and VodaCom sometime to get one for myself.

Re: Mobile phone upgrade - help me choose.
I cannot seem to find out how long I need to wait
Re: Mobile phone upgrade - help me choose.
Tribs, the last info I got was that Galaxy II will be released early in August in SA according to a contact I have at MTN's procurement department. MTN started with a Galaxy I marketing series to get rid of the old phones before the new ones hit.
I could have upgraded when I started this thread, but am waiting for the Sam G II.

Odd, I was at Autopage (screw them, I'm leaving them as soon as my contract expires) and I could get the Galaxy S2 as an upgrade. I didn't actually ask if they had stock though.

Re: Mobile phone upgrade - help me choose.
I can wait a month. I have asked the lady who handles our upgrades to find out if it will be on one of the upgrade packages and when. I will let you know when I get the answer. It will be MTN though but I am sure other providers will have similar timing.

Re: Mobile phone upgrade - help me choose.
Oh yes - have you seen what this phone can do? Either it is fantastic - or their promotional advertising is - but I wants it.
I not so happys no moreMTN's reply to my question wrote: Ok- yes we will be getting it but there is no date set when that will be.
It could be nearer to the end of the year maybe.
Re: Mobile phone upgrade - help me choose.
Trib, is there anything about the new Galaxy that you absolutely must have that the current one does not offer you? Yes, it will satisfy your CUD, but knowing the way you use the phone (and your Galaxy Tab) is it really essential? You already have a previous generation Tab; do you really HAVE to have the latest phone?
When you got your BB you took the Bold while the Bold 2 was just a couple of months away from release (even though you may not have realised it at the time). Have you sat for the past two years facepalming yourself for not waiting?

Re: Mobile phone upgrade - help me choose.
Nope - what you say is very true. I was not aware that the new BB would be out soon - and I liked the one that I had. I still prefer it to the model that came after. So perhaps you are right - the S has all the features I like and what it cannot do my Galaxy Tab can. I didn't wait for the latest tab because I liked the size of the P1 (besides - it was a gift).
So ja - although I would really like having the S2 - I am not against having the S. Just wanted to make sure that the new one wasn't going to come out a few weeks after I upgrade. Because then I would facepalm myself.

Pretty much my sentiments.Tribble wrote:Just wanted to make sure that the new one wasn't going to come out a few weeks after I upgrade. Because then I would facepalm myself.
If it is available already somewhere, pls tell.
I'll prob also wait till Aug if needed.
Re: Mobile phone upgrade - help me choose.
You should rather try and get an HTC Sensation. The new Sense UI is certainly a helluva lot better than that Touch Wiz crud Samsung uses...
Re: Mobile phone upgrade - help me choose.
Touch Wiz can be replaced.
Re: Mobile phone upgrade - help me choose.
Very happy with the E7. Only thing is that it is superbly built, but quite slippery in the hand. I ordered a gel cover and a rubberised plastic cover. Will see which works best.
