Cannot connect to STEAM servers

Hi

For the past two days, I have not been able to get past STEAM's login screen.

Here is the message I get:

I have tried connecting with Comodo Firewall switched off, as I use that to ensure that STEAM only ever downloads from Web Africa's server, but that has not made any difference

I am [obviously] able to connect to websites.

My ADSL modem has admittedly been acting up recently in that the adsl connection drops intermittently, the Telkom says that the line is fine. The system log says something about kernel intrusion alerts, but that seems to be coming from a WebAfrica IP address, so I would not expect that to be a problem. Could my bouncing adsl have anything to do with the lack of STEAM?

have you tried deleting clientregistry.blob?

could be scribbled credentials....

you could also force steam to start in pure TCP mode by creating a shortcut and adding the "-tcp" option to it....

I may just lay claim to "deviant" in the sense of
aberrant: markedly different from an accepted norm; "aberrant behavior"; "deviant ideas"
