Your IT qualification

Post by Slimshaedy »

Howzit guys,I've noticed how smart most of you all are and I have always wondered what qualifications you have behind you?
And for anyone who is working on getting qualified tell us what you're studying towards!

Like me I'm currently studying my A+, N+,server+ which I'm not officially certifying myself in but using it as a foundation
Towards my ultimate qualification,MCSE and later MCITP

CCNA. Have to write 642-436 within the next month or 2 before my CCNA expires. It will give me CCNA Voice and it is the first exam of CCVP
Also some vendor specific ones(Quintum and Mikrotik(not worth crap IMO))

Isn't ccna a bit specialised? Or I suppose u can do it after a N+.
I thought its a bit complicated and needs lots of experience

CCNA does require some experience, but you can still pass by doing labs and using sims ...
Nevertheless there is no substitute for some realworld hands on experience.

Also if u plan on CCNA becuase you want to get into networking don't do MCSE.

Why not?

No CCNA is not specialized. Its the basics of networking, it will give you what you need to troubleshoot networking issues. Yes it is hard, but it is what you need. N+ does not do that.

For labs get yourself GNS3 with some Cisco IOS images. PM me if you need the IOS.

might have put that the wrong way both certs are good in theire own right. I think it also depends on the environment you work in MS or Cisco.

I have some cisco simulator thing. Its all made with flash player,I haven't had a look at it in detail yet,I've played around on the server 2003 sim I have.
Once I have my mcse and I'm in a job then I'll look at doing ccna and mcitp. Coz then I'll at least have experience with cisco systems.
