Uhm....for the covers I actually did have a sketch before I started. Everything was done in photoshop. I don't use freehand (illustrator is MUCH better)maxxis wrote:I did not just print any concepts. These where done in photoshop & freehand (using images of the HL characters) before you even had a remote thought in you head to do your concepts.
Get you fact straight before throwing accusations around.
Also, I didn't say anything abuot your designs, so don't go accuse me of doing something stupid. And what maxxis did is actually cool. I like it, so what if he printed the labels and took photos?
And let me just clarify a few things here:
The covers were done by me, for the purpose of printing, and using it for the steam downloads (if you purchased HL2 through steam you don't get a cd, so I made covers so I can back-up my files onto a dvd and use the covers) it wasn't meant for what Nominator did. HE did that thingum (his first post) and I did the covers (NOT FOR THE THING HE DID)
Thanks for the comment Retro_X.
Your stuff looks great.
My post was aimed at The_Nominator.
I cant stand it when people doubt my skills as a designer.
Mine was done as a entry for the Goldpack packaging awards. These people had no idea what it was. Shows you what they know about games.
[off topic] i have illustrator. just never got round to using it. freehand works fine for me for now. I will have to learn illustrator. Lost of companies require it [/off topic]

1. I had to trace all the logos from scratch (small logos found on the web) in Freehand.
2. I used images off the web for the characters and screenshot on the back of the cd cover.
3. Did all the layouts myself
4. Rusted the can myself
5. Printed all my layouts. Assembled the thing and took the photos.
Is this about me concept being a photo? If so then this is a huge misunderstanding (though it was anything to do with packaging for HL2). Sorry on my part.
As for the label looking unnatural. Its the photo. Looks a lot better in real life.
