Asus screens are the only screens I've seen where anything over 1,680 x 1,050 resolution still has 2ms response time.

I want to buy my FIRST LCD. Was thinking of a LG W2261VP-PF 21.5" Wide Screen LCD.
What do you guys think of it?

Not the biggest LG fan... when it comes to anything electronic. But that LCD does have some sweet specs.

Just took delivery of my Samsung P2450H
Image

Specifications:
Screen Size 24"Wide
Resolution Full HD 1080p 1920x1080
Response 2ms
Brightness 300 cd/m2
Contrast Ratio DC 70000:1(1000:1) (Typ.)
Signal Input Video Signal Analog RGB, DVI
Connector 15pin D-SUB, DVI-D, HDMI

Cost 2049.50 incl delivery from http://www.webantics.co.za/viewItem.aspx?idProduct=7790 which I think is a pretty good buy.

Upgraded from an 19" LG LCD which was a really nice monitor but after 3 years I decided to go a bit bigger.

After wiping the drool off the screen and plugging it in here are some initial impressions:
Massive - make sure you've got enough desk space before you go 24" - these things are wide!
Very nicely finished
Much better contrast than my previous LG.
Blacks are not perfect but still very pleasing.
Repsonse time - have noticed no blurring/tearing/ghosting but haven't really put it through it's paces yet (only played Wow on it so far)
OSD - a bit funny. It is touch sensitive and takes a bit of getting used to. Looks really fancy but not especially necessary.
Watched a HD clip on it yesterday evening just to see how it looks - looks fricken awesome.

Really need a PS3 methinks - will compliment this screen perfectly :)

I can highly recommend this monitor.

Hooked up my Samsung T260 to my brother-in-law's PS3. It looks kick-bottom!

screeper - thats a good price for a 24" LCD. Whats the difference between it and the 2494HS? Is it physically bigger? The resolution seems the same, but the response time seems a bit better.

I prefer the matte look of the 2494HS - but this 24" seems like a better buy (especially for the price you paid)

They're pretty much identical.
The 2494 seems to be advertised at 23.6" and my 2450 at 24" - no idea why that would be.
The 2450 has a 70000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and the 2494 has a 50000:1.
And like you said the response time of the 2494 is 5ms and the 2450 is 2ms.
So I guess the 2450 is just a very slightly higher spec monitor. But not really much in it.

For the price I couldn't find anything better than the P2450.

I have the 2494 model and am very happy with it.
I will be even more happy once my 5850 arrives.
Paid R1900 for the monitor and R2900 for the 5850.

Does anyone know if the Samsung P2450H has a matte screen finish? It doesn't say any in the spec about it, but on all the pics I've seen on the web it looks like is is a matte finish... hopefully...

To be honest, does it matter? It probably is matte, but even if it's gloss, I guess that's cool too. The gloss screens look awesome, they're just a bit of a pain to keep clean.

Just keep an eye on them.
They have had the special twice now. Once at the end of October and again early on in November.
You may get lucky and they'll drop it again for a week.

Maxxis or any other Admin.
Can I suggest a name change of the thread?
Maybe to "The > 22" LCD Thread" or something. Because 24" is now very much in fashion

Agreed. I'm moving from a 17" CRT directly to a 24" LCD. Was considering a 22" 3 months ago but prices keep on coming down.

Screeper, how good is webantics.co.za? I mainly order from Take2 but the P2450H is R2,616 and not adding the delivery cost. I must say webantics's offer is very sweet looking at the moment + free delivery.

Screeper, what was the warranty on your P2450H? I don't see it on webantics and Take2 only has 1 year.

Webantics were fine - no problems. But the special is over now, they're back up at R2199.
1 year warranty.
