Not getting email in my yahoo account

I am running into quite a few problems with my yahoo account lately.

1. I have problems logging into my account on Opera - will not go in. Tried updating Opera and flash player

2. Now I am not getting email from contacts at all. Only newsletters and spam come through

There are others but these 2 are the worst.

p.s: I tried using the contact form for Yahoo but it did not work and won't send the email. It does this even when I filled in all the required fields.

As for your problem: I would try and reproduce in a different browser; if that works, then I would contact Yahoo and flame them over a lack of cross-browser compatibility. However, the first problem may be cookie-related.

Try Internet explorer to login to your account

Send some test emails to and from your email account

Contact some one via yahoo and ask if they having any problems..

You could create your yahoo account in outlook if you know their pop3 or smtp servers...

Send a blank email to any email address (a made up email addy) and when it returns invalid check the header, you'll find the pop3 there..

At least with the pop3 server, you should be able to see if you can at least receive mail in outlook...

Ok thanks. I will try that. I did try get hold of Yahoo but the email form of theirs does not work.

I managed to narrow it down. It is blocking email from 3 people. Two are from clients and one is from Maxxis. I don't have anyone listed on my block list so not sure what is happening with these 3 emails.

opera includes a mail client... this still sounds like a cookie issue..

Hi. I fixed my post.

I tried your suggestion and it opens fine in IE6, 7 and firefox. I can only change settings in IE6,7 but not firefox. I try cookie settings for Opera now and see what happens.

I updated mine and gmail is giving a load of errors with it.

I am using Opera 9.64.

I bought Avira Premium suite 2009.

However I have always had this problem with my yahoo account not opening in Opera no matter what version I use or what av I use.

the only other suspect here would be your cert-store is scribbled or you're not being presented with a cert challenge...

Ok. I have to check that. It is annoying. I also noticed when I try post in one website I go to that if I use Opera I can never post.

login issues are almost always cookie related... try relaxing your cookie control...

Which radial button is selected under "Preferences->Advanced>Cookies"?

I checked now and everything is enabled. In Firefox I can post but with great difficulty and IE6 a little better and still battle to post. It is the only site that does this.

I'm running Opera 9.26 and I have a few issues too...Facebook for example - everything works fine except it doesn't accept any keyboard input

AFAIK Yahoo! mail does not support POP access - Yahoo! Mail Plus does, but that is a paid for service/

Ok. I going to try get hold of Yahoo again on their form. I have a long list of complaints for them about my account.

sheesh... just touching the yahoo mail site with either FF or opera produces reams of scripting errors.... now i know why it's known for being touchy...

after digging through opera bugs, it turns out that yahoo intentionally targets opera, which requires that each opera client attempt to mask itself when touching the yahoo domain.

sadly, this only works until yahoo plays silly buggers again.. looks as if they've done just that... struggled to create an account in FF, all out prang in opera and 3 attempts to create one in ie6, 2 in ie7...

damn bad code base by every appearance...

I do have a gmail account and might use it more often now. I use my yahoo account fairly often because I have yahoo messenger in it to chat to overseas people that I know. It is not a standard yahoo account.

Ok. Also don't try open yahoo email accounts in Safari. especially the kind of account I have.
