well you can use the windows client with WINE and then run it in linux (same as Mac OSX), problem is that it only works for NVidia cards

Re: Folding - Team PCFormat ZA #128409 - RANK 1904
if you get a folding monitor program (fahmon for instance) it will calculate your PPD for you. there was a post earlier in the thread about it
EDIT here and then it follows onto the next page

Hmmm... I wonder, at school there is about 20 PC's, 4 of them brand new (E7300). Maybe I can sneak the folding client on some of them

you have to get written permission first. There was a huge thing about this on the stanford forum. read the eula and terms and conditions. lol.

Don't own them and won't get written permission. Oh well.Folding@home wrote:You may use this software on a computer system only if you own the system or have the written permission of the owner.

Re: Folding - Team PCFormat ZA #128409 - RANK 1904
Once you have FahMon open right click and add new client. You then navigate to the folder where the FAHLog.txt is located (C:\Users\You\AppData\Roaming\Folding@home\)
The client should then automatically be added.
Your total PPD is then shown in the bottom right corner

Re: Folding - Team PCFormat ZA #128409 - RANK 1852
thanks Furion, yeah, I managed to get my 8800GT up an folding (took a while though). so I'm currently sitting with Fahmon estimating my PPD at just over 10k. I'm happy with that
yeah, the team is coming along nicely along with that 800th spot creeping in quickly. I can't wait til we can each have our own stats shown for us...

Re: Folding - Team PCFormat ZA #128409 - RANK 1852
Linux GPU doesn't exist... but people have developed a wrapper that can be used through wine to allow people to fold on their Nvidia cards (Nvidia only at this pont) with the Windows Console client.
