Re: Google to launch browser to battle IE
It looks okay. But it really does need add-ons, given time it might get some.
I don't see problems with images loading, maybe it's your internet giving problems?

Re: Google to launch browser to battle IE
meh...
chrome: 7.35 MB - browser
ffox 7.8MB - browser: then add all the bits you'll need to afterwards...
opera: 6.67MB (browser, mail, chat, torrent, ftp, etc, etc, etc..)
despite all of which, opera still knocks chrome's and ffox's socks off in the speed stakes and one has to wonder what all the hype is about... i ate myself sick on cape fur seal, so i've earned the right to wonder... i get that most people cannot engage their critical analysis engines when exposed to silliness, but really now...
then there's the dodged bullet which most users are, once again, completely unaware of by virtue of the fact that they just automatically say "yes" to anything which even vaguely refers to EULA, (even if the top line mentions the words "satan", "grandmother" and "rectal exam").
there remains the very real issue around why the smarter folks are eyeballing said eula around anything to do with omnibox...
much like the gmail junkies, i suspect we should reserve some small piece of empathy for those foolhardy enough to continue to think with their gluteus maximus when exposed to internet hype... or perhaps not...
@Anakha56: ditto on one or two pics... but i suspect it's a bug... the rendering is banded and jerky which hints at a problem with the buffering...
<lighter side>
when hunting for the latest ffox client for the size comparison, google bounced the search twice for being "suspicious"

Chrome does not seem to go through the proxy I use even though the settings are entered. Oh well, we'll see what comes of it in the future.

Chrome crashes with all tabsWhoa! Google Chrome has crashed. Restart now? While Google’s Chrome team is cheering, Rishi Narang from Evil Fingers is typing and releasing a proof of concept for a denial of service vulnerability that is successfully crashing the Chrome browser with all tabs.

it's also reportedly pranging on "about:%" and, like ffox, stores all your passwords in plain text... now that's funny...

Re: Google to launch browser to battle IE
Pretty looking browser, but a huge annoyance is the fact that it scrolls down but not up on my laptop touch pad. This should have been tested properly before releasing a public Beta. Crashing on "about:%" and storing passwords in text format is also just ridiculous. So Opera remains king for now.

Re: Google to launch browser to battle IE
ok so google ganna store my info.... who say the IE and Firefox and the rest don't do that also???Provided that users leave on the auto-suggest feature in Chrome and have Google as their default search provider, Google has the right to store any information typed into Chrome's Ominibox, which serves as both search bar and address bar. The software maker told CNET News it plans to store about 2 percent of all such data, along with the IP address of the computer that entered the information.

Re: Google to launch browser to battle IE
LINKGoogle Chrome 2.0 is now available in pre-beta form from the folks at GOOG for anyone anxious enough to keep up with the cutting edge releases of Chrome. The 2.0 release boasts several fixes and updated features, including support for user scripts (à la Greasemonkey but not yet full Greasemonkey compatibility), easy profile switching, form autofill (à la every browser in the world), and full page zooming. You'll need to download the Google Chrome Channel Chooser and join the Dev channel if you're ready to get started on the 2.0 path.
sorry for using old thread. but didn't want to start new one just for a update anyway.
