Re: 3G Modem connection problems
Yeah thats very true... Happens sometimes when my phone refuses to connect to any online service, while another phone in the house (same network) works perfectly. Try that sim in another phone? to rule out the phone as a cause maybe. Yeah, I've put the sim in my main phone, which connects perfectly...

Re: 3G Modem connection problems
Yes, it was the same sim card. I usually just dial *99#, but in this case *99***1# also didn't work. I can't set the APN on the phone, or even view it, but I'm not sure where to set it up on the PC...
A master reset also didn't help, it didn't even delete any of the existing connection profiles.

3G Modem connection problems
Hi, I've run into a bit of a problem, similar to the post here . I usually use my spare phone (Motorola V3x) as a 3G modem to connect to the internet. For the last couple of months I've had no trouble, but about a week ago everything went wrong. Weird as it may sound, something got corrupted overnig...

Well, he didn't reinstall Windows, but he did try a repair which did not work. I will try to do a reinstall without formatting and see if it works. Thanks.

Re: Windows giving First time boot issue
Yes Windows 7 was working fine. It started happening suddenly, he didn't reinstall windows or anything.
He gets the message every time he boots, and afterwards it boots into Windows and he can use his laptop as usual, but when he restarts he gets that message again.

Windows giving First time boot issue
Hi guys, One of my friends is having some issues with his laptop, so he asked if I would be able to help. But I have no idea what could have caused it and since I can't have a look at it myself I have no idea how to fix it either. Googling it also didn't raise any solutions, so here goes; Whenever h...

Re: Linux Startup Issues
I installed openSUSE in VBox, but it wasn't all that stable. But I'm sure the reason for that is because I used an older version of VBox. I'll get the newer one some time and try that again. I also installed openSUSE 11.1 today - and it installed and booted without any problems :D The only problem I...

Re: Linux Startup Issues
OK I used the acpi=off command to boot, and at least now the screen doesn't go blank. But instead of crashing, it now just hangs. It still loads that tiny piece of the loading bar, then just stops completely. I'll try to get a slightly older version of openSUSE, and see if the problem persists. And ...

Linux Startup Issues
Hi. Recently it became necessary for me to use Linux, so I got myself a copy of openSUSE 11.2 and Ubuntu 9.10. Now I need to install it on a second partition on my new laptop, but this is where my troubles start. Whenever I choose the Install option after I booted off the dvd, setup loads for a shor...

EEPROM programmer
Hey ppl, I recently tried to update my bios, but the update failed and now I sit with a dead board and a corrupt bios. Sending the board back to Asus might like a long time, so Im looking for something that can program 8-pin EEPROM chips. They are a bit too expensive for me to buy, so does anyone kn...

No, AFAIK you need 2 cards from the same series, like HD4000series. You also need a board with an Intel or AMD chipset.

Re: Windows 7 RC goes live. Your feedback!
I've discovered another bug in RC1. When I select multiple items in recycle bin, right click -> properties doesn't work. Altough when a single item is selected properties does show. Also, When multiple items are selected the total size doesn't show in the status bar. So I have no idea how big the re...

Re: Windows 7 RC goes live. Your feedback!
So far I've had only two issues. I tried copying a folder with a large amount of files in it (28 000), and the GUI froze. I had to wait until it was finished before windows responded again. And when copying a file and moving folders also made windows unstable.

Re: Windows 7 RC goes live. Your feedback!
To all the folks that I said I'll send a copy to: Unfortunately I won't be able to do this anymore. Sorry for the inconvenience caused. I don't have the time to go to a post office and send out 20 DVD's (that's how many requests I got). If you have a problem with that, I'm sorry. I'm sure that it i...

I would also like a copy of 32/64 bit. Would probably need to mail it to me (Hartbeespoort/Brits area).

Re: Folding - Team PCFormat ZA #128409 - RANK 1589
Interesting, I've looked at the teams between us and #800. Currently our team got 247,000 points in 7 days, and only 4 other teams beats that :) Take a look at the Shippensburg University Computer Science Department team. The one guy there did more that 1.6mil points in 7 days   In 24h...

Yesterday I had problems downloading new WU's for the CPU client, but eventually it got right. Maybe the standford servers are having a hard time?Monty wrote:My work units will not upload any ideas

Re: Fallout 3 opinions
Maybe now that there are 3 DLC's, bethesda will hopefully consider selling it in DVD version? It is way more expensive to buy and download it than just buying it in-store. Do you know how big Broken steel will be to DL?
