Alternatives to Perspex

Post by Gino »

Hi there , I want to mod my case a little bit but have no idea of what to use for a Sidepanel Window. I heard that one could use perspex but it chips very easily and its expensive too.

e.g 2mm glas ? (much cheaper ,about R30) :?:

I would think 2mm glass would be really brittle. Something a little thicker? 5mm?

Glass will work but it is heavy and very fragile.

Perspex is not that easy to chip if you work carefull.

I think there is a short tutorial on with perspex. If you cant find then just let me know and I will repost it.

Gladwrap. It's easy to install and you can replace it without powering down your pc.

You get different types of plastics.....when ou visit Maizeys, or whoever, ask for real perspex, that is highly machineable, and if you are careful, you can do a lot with it.

It is really tough, flexible, etc, but prone to cracking if you drill intio it at a high speed/wrong drill etc.

It files easily, when heated, bend easily past 90 deg angles, etc.

PM me if you need more advice, I don't want toclog up the thread with this....
