Does anyone know of a Wireless Internet Service Provider who covers the Durban area - preferably the area from Hillcrest down to Cowies Hill? I´ve been searching on the internet but can´t find anything, although there is a rumour that someone in Hillcrest is providing this service I can´t seem to find him. Is there a list I can find somewhere on the net?

Dudes I went to Wisp´s website to look for this R500 a month 64k connection. I found to my dismay that it´s not R500 a month but R800 a month for the cheapest 64k connection! <IMG SRC="images/forum/smilies/icon_mad.gif">
 So that means it´s still cheaper to go ISDN with seven rand thing. Suddenly i have the urge to swear. <IMG SRC="images/forum/smilies/icon_evil.gif"> Telkom, I HATE telkom!
 
 So now with that high price, Wisp flies right out the window... <IMG SRC="images/forum/smilies/icon_frown.gif">

i know this is a wisp forum but read on till the end.
 
 1. If you are on a 14.4kb modem obviously you can afford a slightly faster (4 times more)
 modem at about R500
 2. If you cant afford a faster modem how the F*Ck on earth do you expect to pay for fibre optics.
 3. I have adsl at about R800 a month with Service Provider, ping 50-110 on local servers unplayable on most international servers.
 
 Major disadvantage now the 17th aprill downloaded 3 gig (supposably) more close to 1 gig and now the internet barably usuable
 
 4. How old are you (7 maybe <IMG SRC="images/forum/smilies/icon_cool.gif"> leich zeit
 5. Have you never made a mistake leich zeit (remember ´Fone´)
 6 Imagine fulling a single cd to satisfy thousands of people every month I´D for one like to see you try leicj zeit
 7 Are you German leich zeit? (just wondering_
 8 Cameron in the PCFormat cd has only made 2 mistakes in the last 2 and a half years like he pointed out earlier?
 9 Leich Zeit are you ever going to post on these forums after that rather useless comment
 10. Lastly buy a new modem after saving up.

So what is up with WISP now? I have recently visited their website and their prices are no longer reasonalbe. Are they trying to put themselves out of business or what?

Dammit! The ´government´ are servants of the people aren´t they? When the hell does a servant tell its employer what they can and cannot do? When its a ´government´, that´s when. Presumably ´civil servants´ have that right. Seems to me the law is an bottom!
 
 Isn´t it time that we, as consumers, stood up on our hind legs and shouted, "ENOUGH! We want fair treatment and better service from those that are supposed to represent our best interests?"
 
 It´s a sad and crazy world we live in!

Just an idea I had...maybe someone came up with it already!?
 
 TELKOM ADSL HOME USER--512k dwn/256k up
 R680.00 pm ex vat and ex ISP service!! I think this is right 24/7.
 
 Okay here is my plan for home users!!
 
 1) Reduce the bandwidth by half from 512k/256k to 256k dwn/128k up, cut the cost in half R340pm ex vat ex Isp, 24/7
 
 2) or 128k dwn/64k up, cut cost again to R170.00 ex vat, ex isp...24/7
 
 I don´t need 512k speed for now ( but it would be nice) 128k/64k is much better than we are getting now and its 24/7 for a smaller per month bill
 
 pls let me know what you think, if this sounds good maybe we could present it to TELKOM!!!
