This might not be something to download but I thoaght it might be something useful for people looking for alternate e-mail addresses.
Go to : http://www.bluebottle.com for a super cool e-mail address system plus its free version (in my opinion) beats some of the other e-mail services' premium options!

EDIT: It has SSL connectivity, SMTP & POP3 servers, 250 MB of storage space, 10 MB attachment max, etc.

Hope it'll help someone like it helped me!

Does anyone know of a frontend app for windows that can be used to connect to a Linux dialup daemon for PPP connections? SuSE has the smpppd daemon and you can use KInternet or cinternet to communicate with smpppd to connect to the internet. You can also connect to it from a remote PC and thats why I'm looking for a windows version of such a program like KInternet.

I'll post this on the Linux thread aswell if it is ok.

You guys won't believe it but I have actually found that program! :D
Its in German but atleast you can make out when to connect or not!
Just change the ipconf.txt in the installation directory of that program to the Linux server containing the internet connection with smpppd.

I'm not sure if it'll work for anything else than smpppd.

Just try a few times to download the app if it gives problems. I think its really cool!

Two apps to throw on the software heap.

X-Chat 2, free windows IRC almost like mIRC (uses win GTK).
X-Chat, free linux version but has windows trial version (see this thread to know why).

Also, weblech as a webcrawler to download pages automatically so you don't have to (NOTE: has no GUI I know of).

Does anyone know of a program that looks for new versions of programs (installed on your computer) on the internet?
I remember a few years back that there was something like that, but I just couldn't find it again. Can't even remember the darn thing's name anymore.

Thanks!

I dont know of such a program, but what I use to keep my software up to date is www.download.com's mailing list

Subscribe there for free, then select all drivers and software you want to be kept up-to-date with, and they will email you when a new version of that software gets released. Pretty cool feature of them :)
