Win98 Shutdown problem

Post by Picard »

Hi all. New to the forum and finding it very informative.
I got a little problem. Got a machine running Win98SE that used to shutdown completely when you told it to(used to power off). Then it wouldn´t so the Win98 shutdown patch was loaded and now what it does is it brings up a screen saying "It is now safe to turn off your computer". How do I get it to shutdown without having to push the off button.

Thanks!

Not sure but if you mobo(motherboard) doesn´t support APM(Advanced Power Management) then you won´t be able 2 do it.

Your psu is AT not ATX. I guess your PC is quiet old an PII 300 around there. THere is no way to make it switch it self off. Unless you upgrade your mobo and PSU to ATX compatible!

Thanx for the reply guys. The guy who´s pc this is insists that his PC used to power off completely before! I think it is a PIII 450, so I think it is a ATX psu and mobo.

[ Edited by Picard On Date
May 28, 2003 ]
