Are these scores believable?
Are these scores believable?
I gave two of my friends SuperPi a while ago and the scores they told me I dunno if I should believe or not...
The one has a P4 2.8C and the other a P4 2.8E. They both using 1Gb of DDR400 RAM.
They both told me they got 41sec for 1mb Super Pi, and one said he was playing music in Winamp while he ran the SuperPi.
Is this believable??

Just for comparison: (And to prove there is NO way you could get 33 seconds on a 32MB calc)

The best time on planetmars for 1MB is 31seconds - note this is for ONE MB not 32...

There is no way he could get 33 seconds in the 32 million calculation.
I have the highest known clocked Athlon64 in SA (2.75GHz) and my 1 million score is 31 seconds:

I never saved my 32 million calculation time, but it is somewhere between 20 - 30 minutes with CPU at 2.4 GHz

I believe him. I got a simliar time but I didnt believe it and I dont swear by it or trust it.
I think my OC was unstable or the progam was buggie for me.
Or its because I ran other benchies

Well done! He he ... now just imagine if you had a P 4...solo wrote:There is no way he could get 33 seconds in the 32 million calculation.

P4 not until they get faster where it counts ie gamesnow just imagine if you had a P 4
But yes a highly clocked P4 can produce some very good super PI scores. I had a 2.4A Prescott (the 533 FSB one) and it did 39 seconds at 3.3 GHz, which is very good considering it usually takes 3.6 GHz for a Northwood to crack 39 seconds.

I've got a 3.0 GHz Prescott - thing gets damn hot...solo wrote:P4 not until they get faster where it counts ie gamesnow just imagine if you had a P 4

Notice I said I HAD one. Eina ... way too hot for me. 8O And it was not only the CPU ... the area around the CPU socket as well (mosfets) was extremely hot. Around 70'C !!! Put a fan on the mosfet area and it dropped to 38'C - ouch. A newer Athlon64 with a good fan can idle at around 23'C ... much betterI've got a 3.0 GHz Prescott - thing gets damn hot...
