Is my benchmark to low?

Post by Mechano »

I recently bought a PC with the following specs:

AMD 64BIT 3000+ CPU
CHAINTECH M/B with KT800 chipset
512mb ram(currently running 333 but 400 is arriving tommorow)
Gainward GeForce FX5700 Ultra

My Benchmarks are as follows

3dmark03 = 2901
3dmark01 = 10794

These seem very low. is it just the memory that runs at to low a speed? Otherwise I'm dumstruck because people with lesser specced systems get higher scores than this. Benchmarks don't mean everything but if you buy a new PC like this you expect something about it. Please let me know!!

The score does seem too low. What drivers are you using for the 5700 Ultra, and what are you running your 3dmark settings at. Also check your quality \ performance settings.

They do seem a TAD low, myself have the same problem. I have a 9700PRO + 2500Barton.

After benching on Aquamark I get a mear 18000, WHILE Snowmonkey, running Gainward 5700Ultra + 2600Barton get 40000. 8O

I still need to reinstall aquamark after getting my new 9700PRO, other 1's RAM got screwed. So HOPEFULLY this would solve some issues, then again I can whip Snowy B-Hind.

Mechano, make sure you are running the latest drivers, if you are using the latest drivers try using a previous version.

Keep us posted.

18000 on Aquamark, Squattie? That seems more than a tad too low, I used to get 18000 with a stock 2000+ and a Geforce 4ti4200 that overclocked a little. You should also be getting at least 40 000 like Snowy, I get 30 000 with 2000+ and 5900XT.

Drivers

Post by Mechano »

The new forceware drivers. Can't remember the version number. I started with the 53.03 drivers though and the version was the same

Have you installed ALL your mobo drivers? I know that sometimes your score is halved if not all the drivers and utils are loaded properly on some brands.

If you have a nforce 3 make sure you install the GART driver, this will enable AGP on your board, otherwise your card is running in PCI mode

Also make sure AA and AF and VSync is turned off and that your image quality slider is set to performance or high performance when benchmarking

Mmm - did you do a fresh install of WinXP on the machine? The hint about the GART driver is good, also mobo drivers and VGA drivers :P

That machine really should get a higher 3dmark 01 score especially, a machine I sold with an Athlon64 3200 with a 9800pro scored 19000+ when testing and benchmarking it.

As a matter of interest, what did you pay for the 5700? Is it an Ultra?

My scores are also a little low.

3D mark 01 13450
3D mark 03 3000

My 2.8 is at 3.2
and my graph cad is actually a MSI 5700 overclocked with D.O.T at Commander. (The highest)

Wierd thing is on the back of the box it says that with D.O.T on commander it sould get 3600+ points in 3D mark 03.

How can I "up" these :?:

AMD XP 2500+ (overclocked to 2000mhx)
512 ddr 333, dual channel
abit-nf7-m motherboard
Gigabyte FX5900XT 128
Sound blaster live.

Running on:
Windows XP Pro SP1
nvidia drivers 56.72
nforce drivers 4.24

scores:
3dmark 2001 se: 9723

You mean with your current setup or upgrading...? That processor is quite a bottleneck. A 3200+ should get you well into 40000+ territory...

Yes get a new CPU. A 2600+ should only cost you like R800 and a 2800+ like R1100 or something like that.
