geforce3 vs geforce4

Post by Rudd »

im considering getting a new video card, and not having to much money, im considering either getting a

1. geforce 3 ti200 128mb for 1099

2. geforce 4 mx440se 128 mb for 999

both these models recieved reasonable ratings
so now im undecided as to which one to get,if any of you have either of these cards, it will really help me what you think, making my choice easier and no im not gonna save up for a geforce fx. thanks your input will help me much.

Hi

in my opion depending on ur rig, if ur motherboard supports agp 8x then go for the geforce 4 but cause ull get better optimization of the 8x AGP otherwise if not go for the geforce 3 it should provide adequate gamming performance.

I have the GeForce 3 ti 200 and its an OK card. I even inquired with the guys at PCF and they seemed to think it can still do the business.

Of course I cannot speak for the MX440 but I have never read any good reviews on it.

My 2c worth.
I kill you in my dreams, I turn the other cheek during the day.

I have a geforece3Ti200 - great card, no problems on any game (maybe looking to upgrade to ati 9500)

Ide take the ti200 since it has the hardware the MX lacks.

Hey, i personally agree with sum of da guys.

if its gaming ur after get a ti 200 coz the MX, doesnt have vertex/ horozontal shaders so its lacks that and plus i havent heard many great reviews on the g4. Y dont u save for a little bit more and geta ti 4200. from Msi, they make some great cards, or if you mb supports 8x, then get the ti4200 with that capability, also consider Msi or the ever so expensive but reliable Leadtek?
Now i have a question for all the hardware guru´s.
Should i get a mb wid 8x 4rom gigabyte, sumthin like the titan P4 and them upgrade my Graffix Card, as at the mo im runnin a abit mb wid a G2 Mx 400 wid 64mb ddr on a p4 1.8 or just blow alot on a sik card?
Should i wait for the Geforce FX?
Firstly MSI is more expensive then leadtek.
Secondly the leadtek Geforce 4 Ti 4200 must be the sh*tist card I have ever sold.
It idles at 65C, if you have your side pannals on it over heats. You have to install 2 8cm fans in just to keep it from crashing.
The MSI card was a breeze no heat problems nothing it was like dream!

It will be a long time before I bye another LeadTek card!

oh dear, a whole bunch of morons all in one room!

Help the bloke out! The GF3 TI is a good card and so is the GF4 MX. 8 x AGP is not a factor as it has been tested and no real performance gain has been seen.

At the end of the day is is what affects your pocket best. I run an MX 440, a GF3 ti 500, and a GF4 TI 4200 (Leadtek) 8x AGP card and an ATI 9700 pro at home.

To be perfectly honest the gf4 MX is probably on par with the GF3 for gameplay at lower resolutions.

Unless you have a large screen at amazingly high resolutions the gf4 MX is a good card. Even though it is missing certain tech of the GF3 it still kinda feels like u taking a step back to move foward if you get a gf3.

And I must say the gf4 MX has a few tech gadets that the gf3 cant quite match either.

My opion, go for the gf4 MX.

Good luck,
Later
