I want to buy my son a console to get him away from my PC
We have a Wii already,
been looking at Xbox too, with online play for him.
But he has been playing the PS4 everytime we enter Makro,
he says the detail in gameplay is beter and the PS4 has beter titles.
I'm not so sure yet(as I will also be playing on it).
Is the PS4 the better choice?
Game title costs VS other consoles?
Heard complaints about the BLU-RAY players quality, is this true?
Console choice
Re: Console choice
Get him a PC as well! Seriously.
The R6-odd k that a console will cost will buy a pretty nice entry level gaming computer. Head in over to Tom's Hardware and check out their $650 gaming rig. Drop it to $500 and you're still going to get a pretty nice build.

Re: Console choice
If he is use to a PC then maybe get him a PC even if its a cheap one. Just something that he can play games on even if its 30fps at medium detail or so.
As for consoles your question would be Wii U or PS4. PS4 lacks a lot of the media features the PS3 had. You can watch bluray on PS4 but not 3D Bluray like on PS3. You also cannot use a PS4 like a media centre and it does not play back cds or MP3s. The PS4 doesn't have that many games yet and also not games that worth while. Infamous Second Son is the stand out game and everything else is available on other platforms. PSN+ makes owning a PS4 worth it atleast for the next year or year and a half.
The Wii U on the other hand is nintendo games exclusively with not much multiplatform going on. The selection of games that are worth playing is a good deal greater than the PS4 at current but the system itself hasn't sold remarkably well.
So yeah, maybe get him his own system. An i3 or AMD FM2 with a radeon 7870.
