Struggling to download from Steam

Greetings All,

I am having issues downloading from Steam. No matter what time of day I keep getting these drops in connection speed then they ramp up again and drop again. Mweb technical have tried a few things on their side (no idea what, just that settings were changed) and it does not seem to help. Using the Mweb speedtest servers to JHB, CPT & London have me using my full line speed of 1mbps so its not the line.

This is what my downloads look like at any given time during the day:



And at night, taken at 2am:



So thats what I am dealing with. What I have tried is changing my Steam download region to Mweb JHB, CPT, IS Gaming & Web Africa even the UK servers give me the same result. I have also tried using a Web Africa prepaid account and guess what? Problem seems to go away.

Any ideas?

How is your actual Steam gameplay and in-game latency?

Buy like a 1gig prepaid or something from another isp to test? If you get no issues then surely consider switching isp?

Are you sure its not just the steam server thats overloaded?

Never had a problem with that before. Have played BL2 with puppy and other people and it has been silky smooth.

Could be but then why on my prepaid account it is fine? Also the servers cant be overloaded for 24/7 could they? This happens regardless of the time or day...

When I woke up this afternoon it seemed greatly improved so I reckon Mweb has tweaked something on their end. Will carry on monitoring...
