Re: BSOD
wow - people still get these? We do need to know what you were doing at the time PCG@mer - that is the only way people can help you. It may not be an OS problem
Re: BSOD
You "recently" got "a" BSOD and you want to solve this by paying to upgrade?PC G@MER 01 wrote:Hi I recently got a BSOD all I would like to know is can i fix this by upgrading my windows (home basic to home premium) and if not what else can I do.
Define "recently."
Is one BSOD really worth upgrading?
A BSOD can be caused by hardware or software. If it is, as an example, caused by faulty RAM, upgrading Windows will do nothing to fix it. Before you jump onto the upgrade wagon, you should really try to isolate the cause. At the very least, try to figure out if it's a hardware or software issue.
But, again, if you only got one, it's probably not the time to start panicking.
Re: BSOD
In either case, an upgrade should hardly fix the core problem. Can't think of anything an upgrade would fix that a re-install couldn't, if it ever got to that.
Like the others have asked, what were you doing when you got the BSOD and can you reproduce it?

Re: BSOD
Not really no. As the others said, a BSOD can be cased by many things and we dont have much info to go onPC G@MER 01 wrote:Hi I recently got a BSOD all I would like to know is can i fix this by upgrading my windows (home basic to home premium) and if not what else can I do.
Also why spend money upgrading from basic to premium? how much difference is that really going to make?

Re: BSOD
The bsod appeared after windows startup logo my PC starts fine in safe mode
Re: BSOD
Meh, is it doing it all the time? I had two computers doing the same thing after Windows Update ran last week. I spent hours trying to solve the problem, to no avail. Ended up reformatting both machines.

Re: BSOD
You have a driver somewhere that's causing issues, and changing Windows editions is not going to solve it. Please provide the BSOD error text.PC G@MER 01 wrote:The bsod appeared after windows startup logo my PC starts fine in safe mode

Re: BSOD
Yep, driver or some other piece of software that starts with windows is causing it.
Try this quick. When in safe mode press windows key + R and type msconfig, then under the general tab select diagnostic startup click ok and restart to see if the BSOD remains.

Re: BSOD
Wouldn't be the first time I have seen external storage devices causing issues whilst booting into windows
