I've never preordered games in SA, but I know if you preorder books and music from iTunes or Amazon they only charge you when your item is ready for shipping.jamin_za wrote:Yeah, I went digging in my game receipts to find out why I had that idea in my head...
Good old Blizzard.
My Diablo 3 pre-order was made in 2 months before the games release and I was only charged for the game 3 days before it arrived in the post.
Steam operates the way you said, as I'm sure do most other retailers

Re: The Pre-Order Waiting Room
With DLC being as abundant as it is I've started pre-ordering a lot of my games. Now that I can afford Collector's Editions they are pre-ordered as soon as they become available (for selected games). Else the feeling is to wait for a sale.

Re: The Pre-Order Waiting Room
We fall under the EU region. All our games are suppose to come out on the EU release date however the distributors claim that they can screw up and our release dates can be pushed back by a week or two. Example is Mortal Kombat 2 years ago where the release was posponed till after a weekend and last year Borderlands 2 got delayed til the week after, also a long weekend if I had it right.
The trend is if it is a long weekend release you might want to go digital.

I say we take pitchforks and torches everyone think they can give us crappy service since nobody does anything about it except the hooligans who protest service delivery but regardless of that still vote in the same people every time

I'm all for marching into some areas and burning down shacks if I can't get my way. Only problem is the amount of effort it will take won't yield the desired result.

Re: The Pre-Order Waiting Room
How did that happen? Did you pre-order through BTGames? Take it back. Seems they had problems with the pre-ordering system.
I am coin tossing. I am thinking of getting Tomb Raider via steam. But I am looking at Resident Evil 6 too and Bioshock Infinite.
